Why not just leave a hill? That wall don't give you more flat yard. I'm so confused.

How do you make sure that after the rain the retaining wall doesn't bulge at the middle. I was under the impression you'ld use vertical reebars and intertwine them with horizontal ones
@srmcontracting3 күн бұрын
The weight of the wall keeps it in place and proper drainage ensures there wont be any pressure from water

Is the rock/gravel necessary? It’s going to be sandwiched between layers of dirt, which will just get mixed as tine passes. What does the gravel do, that the dirt won’t do?

As a tree service professional, aerial rescue and self-rescue are critical components of a climber's skillset and tools while working aloft. You'd be picked clean by the eagles before anyone came to fetch you up there. Also, That tower looks like a junkyard up close. It's embarrassing that so much money and technology goes into what makes those towers necessary, and this is their physical manifestation. All in all, excellent work. Given the credentials, experience, and physical ability required to perform jobs like that, I'd be working with whoever hired me to do that job for "hero pay" because of the missing pegs and the restricted access at the top. I imagine it certainly made the job more difficult than it needed to be and also filters out professional competition. "Fine. YOU get your fat ass up there with missing pegs and through that opening!"
@srmcontracting11 күн бұрын
Thank you, yes these towers are often a mess unfortunately. They pack as many carriers on them as possible. Your right about the rescue, thats why we always have a ground guy with rescue gear ready to go.
@daviddegirolomo256212 күн бұрын
Where does the water go once it’s in the pipe ? Thru that front opening ?
@srmcontracting11 күн бұрын
Yes, through the face of the wall. These pipes are just a back-up to handle a large surcharge of water. With "normal" rain storms the pipe won't discharge any water.

You have to be in great shape to climb vertically like that! My questions would be: (1). Why is there no safety cable so you can climb more easily, and (2) what idiot forgot to put in the hand pegs at the top?
@srmcontracting11 күн бұрын
The towers are built with the safety cable installed from the top to the bottom. Sometimes they get damaged or in this case there are so many platforms that there's no longer a straight shot to run it up the climbing path. I have no clue what happened to those peg though... Thanks for watching and commenting

A few years ago I was going to leave the plumbing trade to do this through a friend. I had run warehouse for Telus Mobility and organized delivery of the towers as well, and was kinda familiar with the equiptment. Sadly, before this could happend, Patrick fell from a tower. Aparantely his fall arrest malfubctioned, and he had fallen 65' before it snagged on something and stopped his descent with a jolt,, breaking half the bones in his body, severe internal injuries. They had to rescue him from 40' up or so. I don't know all the details. I don't want to. He passed in hospital. I think about him often. No clue why this is on my feed. Got a rod buster friend who has a channel, maybe why. Stay safe brother. Sorry about the downer comment. Just leaving it for the algorythym. Stay safe up there. Much love from Toronto. RIP Brother

I hope they pay you well and have good insurance....i used to climb 28 to 40ft ladders when I worked for a satellite company...There is no way in hell I would be climbing those towers..and that one looks like its not as tall as some of them I've seen. Heck, I get dizzy nw just standing on the curb.....lol. You should know that the people that design and make these towers don't have to climb them...
@srmcontracting11 күн бұрын
Haha yes it's not for everyone. This tower was about 190', most of the stick type towers (monopole) are right under 200'. The radio and tv broadcast towers can easily be over 1000' tall. Thanks for watching and commenting

@@srmcontracting well you can have that job...good luck to you..i hope the other towers are easier to climb than that one.
