This is a fun ride. I've made it to the campground on my hardtail. If you're looking for gravel roads in north LA County, check out the area around Bouquet Reservoir and Elizabeth Lake. There's a huge network of fire roads in the Sierra Pelona range.

Just did this yesterday without going up the out and back turnoff to the peak. It was extremely cold, 32 degrees on the high sections but all passable. Lot's of debris coming down on the fire roads.
