Appreciate this review. Just ordered the Graveling + in 700-38c. This will be used on a fitness hybrid running an asphalt mostly with a bit of hardback along the way.

900miles on my 700c x 38C slick plus tan wall, 90% paved roads and 10% dirt, there's minor wear on the rear but that's to be expected and will probably take a thousand km more before it really gets worn out. I got punctures but they were caused by rubbis (metal debris and screws) on the side of the road, no tire can survive that kind of debris anyway. Overall, amazing tires for me.

Just threw these on my wheels and I'll be super annoyed if I only get 1500-1600 miles on them😅
@ViperXtreme
@ViperXtreme Жыл бұрын
@@veganpotterthevegan used them for 2500miles, at that point the rear wheel is pretty much worn out on the center, swapped my front tire to the rear and got a new tire for the front. Rear wheel (formerly front) is doing additional 600 miles now and also starting to get worn out.

I have a pair of the normal SS and though they're beautiful they've punctured twice in the first 100 mile.... and one was non sealer. Your road trip certainly made my mind up to get some Dynaplugs, AND the SS+ s will be on my Xmas list now.😃

I’ve got about 700 miles on my gravel king 35mm slicks. No punctures. I even hit a pothole when night riding mid winter and they were fine. It’s been all pavement and all in the country for me so who knows.

This is pretty close to my experience with gravelking tires as well. Especially on the rear I have benefited from getting the plus casing. My first ride on a new non-plus casing slick setup, I got a massive cut from glass on the shoulder. And at ~185 lbs, the regular casing didn't last past about 600 miles. They also struggled to hold pressure for longer rides, and would get 'bouncy' towards the end. My only complaint about the plus casing is it does seem to be a bit slower than the non-plus casing. Well, that and the stiffer sidewalls make mounting harder.
@LockedinCycling
@LockedinCycling 3 жыл бұрын
Yea I’ve had pretty good luck with them in both casings. I never had the slow bouncy issue as long as it had sealant in it. But yea these are defiantly not as comfy

A lot of people take “puncture resistant” tires too seriously I think. I’d rather have some giant nail go straight through my tire while rocking puncture resistant tires rather than multiple and multiple of flats from thorns, staples, steel threading from car tires and so forth. Puncture resistant tires definitely works but obviously don’t expect it to save you from giant things that would pop anything.

Informative review. I Purchased the GravelKing SS 700x28, a few months ago, from an ebay seller who listed it as tubeless ready. The panaracer packaging (Cardboard)stated tubeless ready. However the wheels themselves do not have TLC/tubeless labeled on them. Still see some ebay sellers who list the 28mm's as tubeless

The regular Gravelking casing is very fun to ride but so fragile. I was riding with Gravelking SS and a branch on the road poked right through. I'm going to install some SK+ tonight and see how they do. They feel way more robust.

Man, I got these same tires in 35mm and road almost entirely pavement. In the first month of owning them I got 4 punctures, on pavement. I immediately swapped them for Specialized Roubaix 32’s and have no issues with them. I wonder though if the GK’s I got were lemons. Everyone covets them so highly.
@LockedinCycling
@LockedinCycling 3 жыл бұрын
Yea in my standard casing 32s I only had one flat after 1000 Ish miles , I’ve tried the Roubaixs back in the day they are pretty tough but ddidnt feel as supple as these in standard casings.

I think they're leaning towards the tubeless side of things to be fair. I've had no issues riding tubeless so far! But I had a puncture riding with tubes, almost same mileage so far!

Im using Slick version for 95% smooth (tarmac) and 5% rough roads. Im using them with tubeless in 32c and I’m very surprised till now after . No puncture, great grip and a low rolling resistance as well. I believe this tires have the name Gravelking but honestly I believe they are road tires. I am using gp5000 clincher tires for years in same conditions/roads and they are pretty close. I could not find till now such a difference between them. Let’s se what time brings me 👍🏼

I'm an idiot and so it's not that I have bad flats, it's that I have flats and then I'm missing something needed to fix the flat such as forgetting tire levers, a pump, extra tube, etc. It's usually only one thing I've forgot and a couple times it's been pretty darn far from home.

Hi - need some help to select the right gravel tire. I currently have the Bontrager GR2 Team Issue Gravel Tire (700c 40mm) - but get flats all the time (even when i ride on the normal street - 1 week riding - flat - 4 flats on the back tire, 1 flat on the front tire in the last 4 weeks). I got the Tannus Armour Tire Inserts - but that doesnt fix the flat problem. Can you recomment me another gravel tire? which one has the best quality and prevents flats Vittoria, Continental or WTB or something else? My terrain: Road and also some Offroad (forrest with gravel and fine sand). I would say 60% road, 40% offroad. I have a Trek Dual Sport 3 2020 with these rims: Bontrager Tubeless Ready Disc, 32-hole, presta valve
