I'm surprised how rural this ride was for Florida. Just finished my first 100 km gravel ride yesterday. I mainly ride the mountain bike but the gravel bike is a fun change of pace sometimes.

North Florida has a lot of beautiful rural riding. I’m in Tallahassee, very similar to where Clint rides.

This is North Central Florida… almost another planet from south Florida , which is what people think when they hear “Florida”. Congrats on your first 100k! What I appreciate about gravel riding covering a lot a lot more.

Clint...please more videos like these. These are amazing. Loving this see different terrain, and as some mentioned below, I NEVER expected that Florida would have gravel options like this! I have been to Florida several times (Orlando, Miami, and St. Petes) and only witnessed pavement, highways and interstates. LOVING this flat, rural looking options for gravel rides and actually makes me want to go there with my gravel bike! More like this please...

Great gravel riding here for sure. The cities you named don’t showcase what Florida is really like.

I love these riding vlogs, way more than your mountain bike vlogs, really nice to see different areas through the bike

Thanks. I’ve got a cool one coming out on January 11. Shot it with the Insta360 for a different perspective. Working on it now and it’s turning out nicely.

Curious - there was one dog barking (behind a fence) on this video. It got me wondering - on gravel rides like this (in rural looking regions), how many encounters do you have with dogs not behind a fence?? Would love to see a video on this (or how you deal with dogs on gravel rides...)

Happens about once a month. Pepper spray is effective but only had to use it one time.

I tried camping with a hammock and I couldn't sleep, it may be something I got to get use to but it was a rough night

I don’t sleep well in a gathered-end hammock, but I slept like a baby in the Warbonnet Ridge Runner which is a bridge hammock. Check them out. Also the Eno skylight is a great option.

Do you use a particular route planning tool, or is it just long experience and local knowledge?
@ClintGibbs
@ClintGibbs Жыл бұрын
Actually both. When I plan routes I usually plan them in Garmin Connect and sometimes Ride with GPS. I have a video on how to wirelessly get routes from Ride with GPS over to Garmin

Curious…..do you see gravel roads disappearing ? I would think over time..gravel roads would get paved over by the town . And little by little gravel turns to asphalt. 😕
@ClintGibbs
@ClintGibbs Жыл бұрын
I’ve seen that happen with a few roads around here for sure. But the further out you get the less it happens. We have hundreds of miles of gravel roads in our county so it would take a long time to pave them.
