The enemy of my enemy is my friend.. but still at an arms length. Shepherd obviously still holds the leash to Graves, but Graves was obviously not happy about betraying 141. It’s probably going to happen again here.. but he’ll leave shadow company and save everybody.

There's no "right part" in murder, regardless of whatever excuses we conjure up to justify satiating our collective and innate lust for bloodshed and carnage. Plus being left out to dry would be worse than being shot in the back in my opinion. Because with the latter at least I would have the certainty that it will all be over, even if I was left to slowly bleed out for roughly ten to twenty minutes. Ghost's death hit so hard because the play, a.k.a Roach was also betrayed and killed, and stayed that way. Villains popping back from the dead and switching sides like this undermines the significance of consequences and impact of their story, and they had to put the "no dead body explosion" cliche on top of this shitty writing. Graves would've been a better villain if he had stayed dead. I pity modern young gamers never allowed the chance to experience true back-stabbing, burned alive by a cigar and real good villainy. I blame the dying of action culture on the "Fast & Furious" franchise and the MCU.

I think the newer games definitely do a better job fleshing out characters and giving them personality. But the old games also had tension. You knew characters could die. These wars actually had weight and cost to them. Now everyone just has the plot armor of an op anime hero. It's just hard to take seriously, when you know that any character not killed on screen, will just be retconned back (probably as an excuse to add it to the battle pass or something).

Ghost isn't mysterious in the orginal timeline he is literally a background character wit like 5 lines and no character arc. You can criticize the new games but the cod community's worship of ghost has nothing to do with his character and everything to do with his edgy skull mask
