My dad was a mechanic for a Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth dealership starting in 1968. I was 14. He worked 1/2 day on Saturday. I'd go to the shop with him and wander around the lot. It was like an Easter egg basket with all the colors and muscle cars. I was in heaven weekly.

Wow what an honor to receive a 1000 HP new design crate engine from Mopar. It's a testament to your craft and a trophy to your dedication to your passion. Congratulations Mark. Good luck deciding what build your going to use it on. That engine is probably worth more by itself than any car you could build since it was a debut item. I would leave it in the glass and charge to let people see it. It belongs in a museum. Maybe I'm too nostalgic but there's no other motor ever gonna have that bragging right having being unveiled at Sema

I bought my first (of 3!) Barracuda in 1979 for $600! My second one (1971) in 1983 for $1800, my third one (a 1970 body only) for $300 in 1986. The first was a Lemon Twist with 383, 727, 8 3/4 suregrip (4:10) built way higher than my ability to drive it! (I was 17, a senior in high school) had to sell it after having 20 tickets in 12 months (mostly fix it) and lost my license for 3 months... the second one 1971, Black 318, auto, one legger. Wrapped it around a telephone pole... bought a 1970 body and swapped a 360 auto, suregrip (found the rear diff in the junk yard out of an RT Challenger!) That was the best cars I ever owned. Of course, if I knew then what I know now... I would still have the OG big block '70!

Dating myself for sure but I remember daydreaming about dropping a Hemi in a GTO or tubbed Vega etc... it was just the things dreams were made of back then if you were a true gear head. Not that GM or Ford didn't have some really great engines back then the Hemi was like a mystic.. the holy grail if you will. And then to see a vehicle like this being restored to it's glory days in 2022, just heart warming. Those who understand, just do. They were the ones popping wheelies with their high school desk during English lol. Or worse cut class to be in a car doing a burnout in front of the class.

I bought my 69 charger in highschool straight off a used car lot in 1974 for $900. It was my greatest ride to cruise in with a 400 big block in it blowed up the 383 when valve cut loose on me. Got the 400 interceptor motor out of a state highway patrol car. 1150 thermoquad carb on top. First race beat a guy in a cobra jet 428 Torino by half a car length.

The little dead wagon looks great you guys did a great job. But the wood for the bed you should have stained and sealed the ends of the boards after you cut them and grain and lumber sucks up the most water it will only be a year or two before those ends of the boards that are not properly sealed start to split and you’ll be replacing them before you know it always consult a professional woodworker before installing any wood in an automobile

i bought a '70 challenger with a Slant 6, got a great deal on a 318 with < 5k miles, and after a year found a k-member from a '69 Coronet and bolted it in with the same 3 Speed Xmission and rear end designed for the Slant 6. Dual exhaust with glass packs. i could do 45 in 2nd gear and scratch the tires shifting to 3rd. And the sound downshifting and letting the engine kill my speed....my neighbors hated me when i drove that car after 9 pm. Sold it to pay for my Sr Yr of college to finish my Elec Engr Degree. Now that i retired, i'd rather have the car than a degree. LOL. I also had a '71 Plymouth Satellite, The Poor Man's Road Runner, 318, offenhauser manifold, Holley Double Pumper, Hearst shift kit...i gave Most Camaros a run with that car. And yeah, i owned a Dodge Stealth, 2nd car i ever bought brand new in '93.

I bought my "71 Demon 340 brand new for $3150. So that would be my choice. I was 21 years old that year. I have always wished that I had kept it. It was red, with black stripes. It was really plain Jane, No power steering, drum brakes all the way around, three speed auto on the column, bench seat, and rubber on the floorboards. (no carpet) It did have the 150 MPH Speedometer though, and I buried it one day. Used to do 120 MPH once a week just for fun back then.

I know this is an older video but here go's me.17 years old, 1974, Martins Garage Mopar, 1972 Cuda for sale. Brown-green, 3 sp. stick, 318, all stock. about 24,000 mi. on the clock, I WANTED IT ! I needed a cosigner, I told my dad, " it's only a 318 , good gas mileage ect " Well he signed and I bought. Thu time, put holes in my muffler, loud cars go faster ! lol. out with the 3 in with a 4 speed box. 3;91 with 2 LUNGS. 2 barrel on the shelf for a 4 barrel Holley and intake to match. Cragers on all 4 , L60 15 out back with Gabriel Hi-jackers. Headers with Cherry bombs, So much for quiet. Super Shifter / reverse lockout. few other stuff , ended being a mid 13 car with that 318, I did spin the bearings on two occasions. I did get married, she got pregnant, THIS IS no FAMILY CAR SHE GO'S. I trade it to a friend of mine for a monty carlo, WHAT WAS I THINKING ? O WELL Now I'm 69 wishing I still had my 72 Cuda, 69 Grand Spaulding Dodge Dart GTS / 383, 68 GTS, 300 G , 68-69 Cuda's , 1969 Rambler Rebel SST/ 290, Loved that car. (recently had an arguement with a friend, he said they didn't make a Demon till 2018, I said he should be ashamed of himself, calling himself a Dodge fellow, (There was a guy up the street when I was a youngster, he had many different Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth vehicles, the two I liked best were his Demon with the 4 speed, and the Cuda, both had Slotted rims and fat Firestone mags. They used to race on Hillside Ave here in Victoria back then. We were young and would jump out the bedroom windows to go watch. He also had a 1968 Barracuda, had a tunnel ram 340, would probably only do 120 or so, but it got there quick, my personal favorite year, not the fastback or convertible, but the notchback. I had a 1973 Barracuda, 340, 4 speed. and a 1968 Camaro, 396, 4 speed.
