In 1970 I owned a 1969 ford fairlane cobra same as the Torinos except it's a coupe it had all the cobra badges functional hood scoop had the 428 super cobra jet drag pack which meant it had the close range gear ratio trans. posittracksion rear end w/457:1 gear ratio, extremely quick 5400 rpm red line top speed 110 mph, but hold on, they omly came in a hand full of colers this one was jade black, approx. 50 made total in all colors only one in black. In the GT model around 500 made, in the Torinos and Fairlane Coupes only in the 50s, the Fairlane was very plain looking a real sleeper, you wouldn't think much of the looks except for the 4 cobra badges and on the hood scoop had 428 super cobra jet on the sides. I can honestly say that I never lost a drag race in the 70s in Grand Rapids Mi.

The car is a 55 Chevy not a 57. The 57 had sharp tail fins and 2 jet spears in/on the hood. The 73 - 79 Ford trucks were “Dent sides” meaning the body line just below the hood side was dented inward and the 67 - 72 were “Bump sides” and the body line came outward in a bump like ridge. There are some great finds in that guys yard and it’s rare to find them not all rusted always up here in the rust belt (I’m in MinneSNOWta), but some of the worst rust I have ever seen has been on Florida cars that spent any time near the coast as there is salt right in the air and high humidity and those cars rusted away from the inside out. I lived in Florida for 3 years.
