This is routine for trucks on my grandparents farm. A newly purchased truck had two jobs, grandmothers grocery getter and take everyone to church on Sunday. It was kept in the garage at the house. It usually had that position for two or three years and then a new one showed up. The truck then moved to a working position each day mostly grandad drove it. Then the pecking order moved on down, there were usually four to five working trucks in operation each day. Then the retired trucks got turned over to grandkids to finish off. Most trucks purchased were used to work up until 1980. Before 1980 if you drove a truck to church you were a full time farmer rancher or you were poor. Trucks were cheap even the new ones. Good show!

Seeing these beautiful dent sides make me miss my 2 trucks. One was a '79 f-250 4x4 with a steel rockbox on it. It had a 390 running on propane. Just a great old bush truck. The second one was my baby. It was a '74 f-350 Ranger super camper special. It had a 390 auto. The drive line was a c6 auto going to a huge dana 80 diff, with drum brakes on all 4 corners. The box was the 8'6" one with the spare tire in the box side. All original matching numbers. Rust free except for the roof. It had sun rust. The paint was rare. It was ginger glow glamor with Wimbledon white. The color combo was not rare. But it was a early 74, made in dec. 73. But the ginger glow didn't come out till '75. The guy I bought it from said that his dad had special ordered it from the factory. I was going to do a frame off restore but I ended up in a accident by a drunk driver. I am now full-time in a wheelchair. So I had to get rid of it. Thanks for the great trip down memory lane. Cheers from Calgary Alberta Canada 🇨🇦

I have a 1972 Ford F100 Longbed Stepside and I always get so many compliments and questions about who restored it, painted it, etc. But it's all factory stock, bought it with 12k miles, and in 6 years brought it up to 31k. Sorry to say this but our next door neighbor had an identically painted 1978 Ford pick-up truck like your "Snickers". I always liked the paint scheme when I was a kid/young teenager. He bought the truck new in 1978 and drove it for about 15 years. By the early 1990's it was pretty rusty, even though for about ½ of its life it wasn't winter driven. He oil sprayed it every year that it was winter driven and for the first ~12 years he kept it immaculately clean up inside and out.

My little 1996 F250 is the last of a kind. mid 90s body with a 300 I6 with a slip-o-matic, the pullingest engine i've ever had. I trailered a 96 suburban from Dawsonville Ga. to the mountains of SW Va. with no issues at all. It came from the public school system in Martinsville Va., ZERO rust, oxford white, in great condition with 126,000. They almost gave it away. The 300 I6 is just about broke in!!

I thought I was a rare breed geeking on fine details like you guys..but mostly with Dodges..Power Wagons are my thing..my old man was a storm window/door installer in the Chicago land area for over 30 years..his 1st truck was a mid 60's chevy..broke the frame..next was a Turquoise 68 ford F250 duel tank with 390/granny 4 on the floor then a 73 F250 custom beautiful midnight blue with white stripes on the bottom (never saw another like it to this day) 460/granny 4 on the floor both of these trucks were specifically ordered with split rims..something about running a higher load rating tire..also 2WD only..because he needed the truck lower to the ground for loading and off loading the windows and doors.. Then came the TURD 1978 F250 super cab beautiful emerald metallic green..he could not get a 460 for some reason and the other engine offerings were only 30 hp more then the 300 six..so he went with a 300/3 on the tree..blew out 2nd gear 3 times and stress cracks developed around the front spring shackle mounts for the rear axle..yes he used his trucks..it was a rare thing not to see the rear bumper a couple of inches off the ground for the life of the truck which was around 4 years..he was getting older so in 82 he downsized with a white F150 XLT 302/granny 4 on the floor..then a ranger..I know I haven't said much but this covered 20 plus years of using Ford trucks 300 plus days a year..that's a lot of time spent in the cab of one..

I got something a little rare that I'm working on just kind of put on hold for now do to the money issues. But what I have is I don't really know if it's rare or not but I like it it is mine. A 1964 F100 short bed style side custom it still has the three on a tree transmission and the original engine in it that still runs I need floorboards brackets and a firewall and a tailgate. I would like to get the stuff from a junkyard upcycle this thing. And then I want two tone paint it it's got a nice patina on it if there was a way to save it I would but there's like five different layers of pain under it. It was a barn find I just want to bring it back to life.

My dad had the 1979 Bronco with the 351 Cleveland modified with a 4 speed granny gear trans. This Bronco was the California Edition with that airbrush paint jobs on the side . Here in Cleveland, Ohio it was the only one I ever seen in person as i was growing up. I wish he never used it as his daily driver going down to LTV Steel. That truck rotted out so fast from that place. It could not be saved at all when I was old enough to try an actually do something with it. But at least the motor and transmission lives on.

I want so bad to have the man build my old truck back I had in my very late twenties. No it was no longer new, but the man who had it bought it new with the options and it was just about of all the rigs I have had, the nicest one. A 72 ford highboy that he had the original engine that ran just fine but he pulled it and the transmission as well. He put the 427 dual four carb engine with some great things to make it a great runner. Behind that was the heavy duty four speed with the hurst shifter, of course the divorced transfer case was from a 3/4 ton as the 1/2 ton one was a in or out single speed transfer case which were just a lame transfer case. That heavier case had the high and low plus neutral which the half ton didn't have that either if memory serves me right... that is one area I am kind of short for memory on. My truck was turquoise an white... an white top as well, all the glass had the chrome trim on it. I could not raise a good pile of money to get better wheels at the time so went with the appliance white wheels and 7:50 X 16 wheels and tires... those wheels were on my truck when a deal came to me to get a seventy foot by sixteen foot trailer home... at this time there were no houses in this area.. zero none. So it was take it or lose it an living in my truck was old in a hurry. I hooked onto the trailer home and pulled it out of this deep hole it was in an on a side hill pushing my tires nearly off those rims... those rims were holding against some of the most horrible weight that a man could imagine doing to his rig. They never bent or whined, just pulled that trailer out of there an instead of stopping to see if it was going to clear the stop light just ahead... I put my foot into it, an pulled that mobil home seventy miles an hour down the road for ten miles, came to the corner turn off to my place, took the only turnoff that would give me a chance to back up my steep driveway... talk about being glad that I had drove a logging truck for a few years by then... put the rig in reverse, and pushed that trailer up my driveway with the hitch digging into the roadbed. The wife an I had talked about using a dozer to get a home up the hill to the spot it needed to be in. Even I have a hard time believing it did it an I was the driver. I had that truck for a good many years, kept it in beautiful condition, not a speck of rust or a slight even touch of rust as it was just well undercoated and the paint was emeron with pearl... I just don't think I have ever had a better looking rig than that one.... and I have had many trucks, both big and small. I was driving one of my logging trucks I had just bought new, was setting on a high mountain landing to get a load of logs when on the radio for the small town came on with "trade 'E.'O.' " if you can sound that out. People called in and said what they had to sell or trade for. I heard this woman talking on the radio who sounded like the wife, she said she had a old four wheel drive rig that would most likely need some work so it was for sale for five hundred dollars an then the phone number... HELL, THAT IS MY DAMN NUMBER!!! I pulled out of the landing empty and ran to a phone to tell her not to sell my truck... it had been only a half hour since the add hit the air but she had sold it five minutes after the add hit the air. She even left some of my tools I had in the back to go with it! I really came close to divorcing her over it. I still should of. This is back when a new rig would only cost maybe ten thousand if fully loaded in 83... I had had that rig since it was only eight months old. The guy went straight to DMV and had the title in his name an I could not even force him to sell it back so tied him up in court for six months which I lost in court because we had been married for six months an It was not clear that I owned it before marrying her. I will be seventy three fairly soon an just miss that rig so bad. I would drive it if it only had the 390 with stock four speed in it. It didn't have the best gearing but they were the 3.73 gears. Posi in the back with that light duty dana 40 front end. It was just beautiful Craig. I think it was the Ranger XLT trim package. Long story short, I still get worked up over that rig
