0:24 she asked for KHULA not triple talaq, KHULA is very different from TRIPLE TALAQ (instant talaq/divorce), only a husband can practice TRIPLE TALAQ not the wife, it gives only the husband the power to end a marriage, by saying talaq three times, and most importantly without the consent of the wife the divorce becomes valid if husband has said TALAQ three times to his wife. While in the practice of KHULA, a wife can only demand to get divorced from her husband sighting some clause of the marriage contract, but this divorce will be valid only when the husband also gives his consent to divorce the woman/wife.

Um yes in Islam they can. And her use of Talaaq is not meant for a woman to use, it’s for men. She still needs to apply for a divorce which may or may not be granted, but as of right now she is still married and breaking the laws of marriage as given in the Qur’an.
