I am from Mauritius, good to remind you that our ancestors come from India as engaged laborers (Girmitya) in Mauritius, it surprised me to learn that some people still did not know that Agalega is an Island in the Indian Ocean, anyway, I am very proud that India had a military base in Agalega which our Govt. had mutually agreed. India is helping Mauritius in many ways, before and during the Pandemic. India also supports Mauritius's fight to take over Diego Garcia from the UK lawfully and to oust the USA military from there.

My family hails from Mauritius while Queen Victoria was still reigning, a score of generations being Mauritian. Your base? The whole world acknowledge Britain has no territorial sovereign, rights in this part of the world. Chagossians need to be back in Chagos. By the way, of the 300+ families in Agalega, are of Chagossian descent. Personally knew and worked with a few of them to know this. These then colleagues of mine’s moms were Chagossians. No Agalegan family want to live this again. India corrupted the spurriously elected Mauritian govt, to get access in Agalega. 85% of Maurituans are dead against this. People of the sub-continent origin, including myself accounting for the claimed 60-65% Indian origin were in fact from Bangladeh (West Bengal I think, in British Raj times) India and Pakistan. Not all are hindu. Of the 30-35% of Mauritians, are of African, (25-30%+) European and Chinese descent (less than 10%) of the so called majority, 3-4 dozen percentage - 36-48% are hindus, the rest Muslims. Currently the Mauritian govt git spurriously elected by a 35% of electoral votes. Not enough legitimacy for India to claim hold in Agalega, while the agreement also not being subject to public eyes and approval or ratification. Neither has it been ratified in the Mauritian parlament. Agalegans dont want the big illicit infrastructures, any rightfully elected after expulsion of the Indian personnel can blow these off

In fact our first PM under which india china war happened in 1962 said that why does India even need a military, many people in India call our military non expeditionary because of their only defensive war strategies and doctrines. And to be honest india hardly gets any coverage in the global news so that it can be discussed and all because we don't pose a threat to the west like russia and china does nor we are a part of the west to be in news. Go over and ask anyone about India, they will never know that India is 3 largest spender on military and 4th strongest nation on planet after china. Even many Chinese don't know about it. Then both china and india lacks the capability to invade each other, this is the truth you guys can't get your massive hardware over the mountains in the himalayas nor your troops have experience of high altitude mountain warfare just check out the recent standoff your soldiers were in constant need of rotation and oxygen supply to survive in the mountains meanwhile it is completely opposite for india we are masters of mountain warfare which is in India's favour also india don't have that hardware to Invade a large country like china. Then even we indians take you as a threat, but in reality we aren't even afraid of you that's why every indian comes up with confidence against china. We take you as a threat just because of wars and believe it or not even your military does take India as a threat that's why you have been working on string of pearls or maybe you don't know that india sits right on your trade with an experienced navy. In case of a war That can literally kill your economy. But all of this hardly comes into the news because India is not a threat to the west and nor it is the west. Just look a decade ago or a little more than that even china was at India's place and nobody was talking about china nor anybody was taking it as a threat nor it was that important for anyone in fact US used to publish report about how china is a good partner and all but now look at the situations.

Mauritius is a multicultural society our ancestors came from India ,China, Africa and Europe . India is rather protecting the freedom of Mauritius as Mauritius can not protect its freedom and sovereignty from expansionist China's aggression. Only a starry eyed peacenik with none of their feet set on the harsh ground of reality may believe that being neutral between the expansionist communist CCP regime and the resisting ally forces of the free world will save Mauritius from China's fury. Come to think of a world where India and allies are gone- the evil CCP regime will grab the small fries like Mauritius by the neck and turn Mauritian people into slaves of the authoritarian regime. The permission granted by the Mauritius government to India for construction of a naval base on the island is a small sacrifice, rather an investment for safe future of freedom of people of Mauritius. India also has to make a lot of sacrifices- if CCP regime were not this revanchist and evil, India could channel much of its military expenditure towards growth of its economy. Finally there is a stark demarcation between ancient Chinese civilization and an authoritarian repressive and territorially expansionist regime.

My family hails from Mauritius while Queen Victoria was still reigning, a score of generations being Mauritian. By the way, of the 300+ families in Agalega, are of Chagossian descent. Personally knew and worked with a few of them to know this. These then colleagues of mine’s moms were Chagossians. No Agalegan family want to live this again. India corrupted the spurriously elected Mauritian govt, to get access in Agalega. 85% of Maurituans are dead against this. People of the sub-continent origin, including myself accounting for the claimed 60-65% Indian origin were in fact from Bangladeh (West Bengal I think, in British Raj times) India and Pakistan. Not all are hindu. Of the 30-35% of Mauritians, are of African, (25-30%+) European and Chinese descent (less than 10%) of the so called majority, 3-4 dozen percentage - 36-48% are hindus, the rest Muslims. Currently the Mauritian govt git spurriously elected by a 35% of electoral votes. Not enough legitimacy for India to claim hold in Agalega, while the agreement also not being subject to public eyes and approval or ratification. Neither has it been ratified in the Mauritian parlament. Agalegans dont want the big illicit infrastructures, any rightfully elected after expulsion of the Indian personnel can blow these off. Jobs for Mauritians, Agalegans? Out of half a million jobs here India dont provide for less tha 20 000. We dond need Indian hegemony here
