Historical Tibet is independent country and during independent of Tibet India didn't need any army at the Tibetan and Indian boarder so Tibet is key of the security of India. Tibetans cannot openly challenge China. Their security forces are too well armed & entrenched. The only means to dislodge them is using Indian supplied armament; and by a guerilla style of hit and run. Tibetans have nothing more to lose, after 70 years of occupation. - How about learning Tibetan, or even a few greeting words ? - How about writing free tibet and other support messages on banknotes and with marker on coins ? - How about displaying a Tibetan flag on your balcony ? - A sticker on your car ? - Wear t-shirts and caps with Tibet flags and pro Tibet messages ? - Stay informed, read books about Tibet. If you find an intesting one to share, how about deposing it on those "free books" stands after reading (I don't know how it is in your country, there a lot of that here, or just leave it somewhere - bench, transport seat...), if you want to keep it buy another one for that purpose ? - Of course if there is a protest nearby, an association, participate ? - And speak about it with your entourage ? Of course, you can invent and suggest other ways and use this for other causes you cherish.

While I empathize with the Tibetans, I have to say personally that I was a student under this woman's mother (at Harbourview Middle school for those that would accuse me of being a CCP plant) and she was not a teacher but an activist. She also lied about her life experiences to her students. Sadly, it colours my trust in what her daughter says.

The lay tibetans in India become more and more involved with the western mentality. The older ones you still see a lot in the monasteries and with their mala's. The younger ones only come on religious days and rally's. So they are busy with building up their lives and try to make money. This draw their attention away from Tibet and Buddhism.
