I grew up in the Soviet Union. This friendship that is being discussed here allowed me to be exposed to Indian culture as a kid. I remember running to a small outside movie theater and sitting on the fence ( that way you don’t have to pay) with dozens of other kids watching 3- hour Indian movies with Mithun Chakraborty, Raj Kapoor, Hema Malini (Seeta aur Geeta). Russian movies were 1 hour and 20 minutes, so with Indian movies you would get two for one kind of thing. Not to mention all the wonderful dancing, questionable sound effects during long fight sequences and overly dramatic love twists. Nothing but warm memories. I can't to say that ISKCON is very popular in Russia. It is many people have not even heard of this movement until now, but those who are truly intelligent are capable of appreciating the depth of philosophy that is expounded in Srila Prabhupada's books. Personally, I was able to find all the answers to my questions there, and really very reasonable and logical answers and not just a set of dogmas and blind faith, which is why I joined ISKCON.

In regards to accent, most of us have very firm and strong voice but the way west has portrait Indian accent is total crap. To be honest I haven't seen anyone speaking like that yet. Yes, you have brought out many valid points and issues on why India has closer ties with Russia. The military aid, moral support and financial aid that Russia has given India at a time when the west turned its back on India are all true. America has always had its own interests first and have used other countries for its own gain. The issue of Ukraine is global and not just about US, Europe and Russia. Understandably it is extremely difficult to turn one's back on a friend and close ally in the time of their need. We are now at a turning point, at a time when the world is at its most dangerous time in the last fifty years since WWII and the cold war. This is unchartered water where clarity of judgement, wisdom and experience will play a crucial part on the decisions that need to be exercised. Not since the cold war has the imminent threat level for violence been so high. Violence can easily escalate if not contained and spill over and escalate to else where. Whatever decision is made one has no precedence to rely on which makes it infinitely harder to decide the path to safety. Only wisdom and a vision and commitment to the future can save us all from annihilation and destruction. With nuclear war no country will be safe and for the majority of the common people no where they can hide and be safe.
