Russia-Ukraine War l Jaishankar Calls Out West Again, Questions 'Isn't Europe Funding The War?'

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s remarks at GLOBSEC 2022 Bratislava Forum have gone viral. The minister has been praised earlier too for his articulate and assertive replies regarding India’s position on various matters of foreign policy. In the course of defending India’s stance on Ukraine war, Jaishankar says: “Europe has to get out of the mindset that Europe’s problems are the world’s problems, but the world’s problems are not Europe’s problems."
When the moderator asks him who India will side with - US or China - in case it has to pick a side, the minister added: “I don’t accept that India has to join either the US axis or China axis. We are one-fifth of the world’s population, fifth or sixth largest economy in the world…we are entitled to weigh our own side."

I am a European (Dane) and you are absolutely right. Germany has made a deal with Russia, where Germany buy gas and Russia buy expensive cars. The thing is : When a crisis occurs what can you most easily be without ? Energy resources or expensive cars ? Yes the answer is obivious and the same, on a smaller scale, counts for Italy. That is the essence of the problem in bringing Russia to it's knee, and just keep on financing Putins war. Smaller countries like Netherland, Finland and Denmark have refused to pay Rubles for Putins gas and consequencely being blocked by Russia, but Germany has been so "sweet" and promised to supply the missing gas by buying even more gas from Russia in Rubles, so they can maintaine and even expane their business with Russia whereas the smaller countries have to reduce their business with Russia now and most likely in the future. It is so frustrating.

It would just be unacceptable for Europe not to condemn what is arguably funding a war reguarding it's Ukrainian stance, of course Europe knows it's funding the war itself with gas and there are daily discussions and moves to quit it ASAP.
