On one hand she correctly points out that the main battles of the WWII were fought and won on the Eastern front at tremendous cost to the then Soviet Union. On the other hand though I don't think she understands what that really means for Russia and its citizens. There is hardly a family that hasn't lost someone in that war, which by the way in Russia is referred to as "The Great Patriotic War", not WWII. To this day Russia has not completely recovered from that war population wise. So I don't necessarily blame them for being sensitive about what's going on at their borders. True, Ukraine was not officially part of NATO but was being turned into a de facto NATO country with a great deal of help from us. And we can't say we weren't warned many , many times, starting as far back as in the mid to late 90s. Yet we kept pushing and pushing, disregarding what were initially protests and later warnings. And I don't mean to be rude but all those saying that Russia invaded without reason a democratic country, please do some more reading and research and don't take your news from our mainstream media only. There is very little if any truth there. The current war did not start on Feb 24,2022 - it started in 2014 and has been going for a long time.

What strength? Putin has lost 25% of the military assets he started the war with. Morale is super low since the recruits feel like cannon fodder in substandard equipment just waiting to get blown to bits by sophisticated Western weaponry. And because fearfully units aren't taking orders to advance, they send top officers to the front, leading to 9 dead Russian generals. Moreover they can't afford the war with their tiny economy, and sanctions are making it worse, with Russia itself predicting a 8-12% drop in GDP. Putin has led the country into the abyss.

west should have included Russia in NATO when they sought entrance in 2007 (likely not approved by military industrial complex which thrives on war- or fear of war). The eastward expansion of NATO understandably rattles Russia. (nuclear capable missiles pointed at Moscow on its border) The west arming Ukraine is a real criminal act that is incredibly dangerous. How did U.S. react to threat of missiles in Cuba in 1962??? All out conventional war between nuclear powers will certainly progress to nuclear as the losing side will no doubt use them. U.S. should push for peace talks- then seek a comprehensive international governance security arrangement that includes Russia- the right thing to do..

Correction: In today's invasion - Russia also did not want to have to invade. For over 2 months, Russia tried to resolve this issue diplomatically. But after Ukraine and NATO slapped Russia's diplomatic hand away time and again - Russia took the only other option available - military conflict. Now Ukraine is in shambles and the rest of the world has been shaken tremendously - all with minimal effort by Russia.

Ukraine was the result of the US constructed coup to overthrow Yanukovych in 2014, and more recently as series of covert and subversive activities in Ukraine since 2020. Afghanistan was the US and Iraq also. All of them are US caused.

Just FYI, the Ukrainian army didn't repel the attack on Kiev. Russian forces were given an order to leave that territory by the commanders of the Russian army. And 2 days later after the Russian forces left, the ukrainians said that they've kicked them out. LOL
