As a sharks fan I’m not sure why you would only give them a B vs the Stars an A- on the Granlund deal. Granlund has been a good piece here but he’s an expiring UFA. We acquired him as a negative asset cap dump from the Penguins and turned him into a 1st before his deal expired. I’m not really sure what more you can ask for from the SJ side.

Both teams deserve an A in that deal, literally just the thing both teams need.

As a sharks fan I think it's accurate for the Sharks. I think they maximized the value. Unless Grier has some magic lined up for that pick, I don't think they should have traded Granlund. I think they should have overpaid a little to keep him around the next few seasons.
@travzimmerman1340Күн бұрын
Grav, I think the Granny/CC for picks was about as perfect for both sides as it gets. I give them both an A.

Sharks one is a bad take, Granlund wanted more money than we were willing to give him so flip him and Ceci and get some picks
@TracyJean1972Күн бұрын
You just had to mention Luka, didn’t you? Now back to hockey…I like the Stars-Sharks trade. Granlund had an immediate impact in his first game with an assist and Ceci actually didn’t look bad. He was better than we’ve seen from Dumba, which I know is a low bar, but still. I would have graded both sides with at least an A-. They both got what they wanted. Perhaps the Sharks already knew they weren’t going to be able to resign Granland?
@jonmendelson1104Күн бұрын
Or perhaps the Sharks already knew they were going to be able to re-sign Granlund, even after moving him. Alright, maybe that's just wishful thinking on my end.

@ You never know. Although there are rumors that Nill is already talking extensions with both (I say NO on Ceci).

As a flyers fan l, i hate this move. Been a big Danny B supporter but underwhelming return for two 2nd liners that are only 25(i havent looked so kind of guessing at the ages) range. A 1st rounder that could only muster 61gp for a calgary team that def wasnt much more than a playoff bubble team at best. The russian will be gone at the end of the season. Wish well for frost and farabee in the future, i believe they both will shine being out from under Torts
@carlernst960123 сағат бұрын
Gotta see the bigger picture. We are rebuilding. We know what Farabee and Frost are, they aren’t prospects. With Konecny, Tippett, Michkov, Foerster, Brink, Frost and Farabee were the odd ones out. Additionally, Farabee was making $5 mil for 3 more years. He has only 18 points this year making that contract extremely tough to move
@OCRay1Күн бұрын
Meanwhile in Anaheim, our mgt is still trying to trade Zegras for ridiculous reasons rather than giving these guys the years they need to gel considering we are realistically still in a rebuild and it using nearly 45 million in cap space. ALSO, thanks for not drafting Fantili. Brilliant, thought it was a genius move when they picked the soft unproductive Swed and it has worked out perfectly. Who wants a tough skilled north American style player who is highly productive anyway?!!

I try to not pick on Cody Ceci, I really do. As long as coaches know he's best suited in a third pairing relief role, and stop squeezing him in premium minutes in a top 4, the hockey world would be at peace and he wouldn't be a meme.

The NHL should have a trade freeze from just before Christmas until 6 hours before the deadline. The trade deadline used to be such an exciting day in the NHL but with so many trades happening throughout the year there is no excitement anymore. Cheers from Ottawa🍁
@jonmendelson1104Күн бұрын
I strongly disagree. Instead of having a ton of excitement for one day, have excitement all throughout the season. Also, if a key player goes down with an injury for a team just after Christmas, having to wait 2.5 months to do anything beyond the band-aid solution of an AHL call-up is awful, especially for a contender.
