so this is a REALLY cool idea that im surprised I've never had myself. Technically legal due to lack of motors, but I do have to ask, how far behind the sluice is the trailing reaching out in the water? if its over 12 ft. length, ranger can still cite you for it. As long as you avoid spawning season for the fish, I really don't see how anyone could have an issue with dredgers.

@AUmajor4 жыл бұрын
It is 100% legal what I am doing in this video. No motors no problem! Plus I doubt rivers and gold claims are high on the governments priority lists given the situations our country is in. The fear you feel to go out and freely mine is exactly the governments goal was when they implemented their backwards codes and laws.

I've got a pretty good idea where your prospecting. Heavy pans & light heat 👍
I'm half way in and loving it. I think you lost some gold on that first run. That sluice looked like a bar brawl with AIDS, falling down concrete stairs. I say that as a friend. I'm gonna finish the video now.

Respect all the way around. You do that, you get gold. I wish you had a longer sluice. Seems like you'd lose a bunch. Idk?

California Code, Fish and Game Code § 5653(a) states: "The use of vacuum or suction dredge equipment by a person in a river, stream, or lake of this state is prohibited, except as authorized under a permit issued to that person by the department in compliance with the regulations adopted pursuant to Section 5653.9 . Before a person uses vacuum or suction dredge equipment in a river, stream, or lake of this state, that person shall submit an application to the department for a permit to use the vacuum or suction dredge equipment, specifying the type and size of equipment to be used and other information as the department may require pursuant to regulations adopted by the department to implement this section." However, California Code, Fish and Game Code § 5653(g) also states "For purposes of this section and Section 5653.1 , the use of vacuum or suction dredge equipment, also known as suction dredging, is the use of a mechanized or motorized system for removing or assisting in the removal of, or the processing of, material from the bed, bank, or channel of a river, stream, or lake in order to recover minerals. This section and Section 5653.1 do not apply to, prohibit, or otherwise restrict nonmotorized recreational mining activities, including panning for gold." Your "nonmotorized mining activities" seem to be legal under subsection (g). So, let's discuss this subject as soon as possible. Aloha
@AUmajor4 жыл бұрын
I am glad you posted the code, Tim!! I was directed by Bill Boomer that if I use no motor it is 100% legal. Boomer even lent me most of the parts for this "Non motorized Sluice." Boomer also said if his North Fork claim had enough drop then he would be using gravity power there! We need to be very loud and proud of our rights and show how little impact we miners have on our rivers. However it says we need a permit to use suction power BUT the government is refusing every aplication for a permit. Consider this video and the future videos on this style of mining a protest. I am willing to risk punishement to inform people on the benefits of Motor Dredging. Another mentor of mine gave me good advice. He said that all prospectors need to remove the word "recreational" from our vocabulary. If the government thinks we are all recreational prospectors then they will bend the laws so we only have recreational rights. We all need to start stating that we are "Professional Miners." And treat gold mining like it is a our only way of income, then maybe Dredging will come back to CA. I was eyeing Peteys Place, and it may have more than enough drop to utilise a gravity system🤑🤑
@jeffhays19684 жыл бұрын
Winner ! BUT there are way lighter hoses for this, just say'in
@AUmajor4 жыл бұрын
I made this dredge on a completely free budget! The hoses were loaned by a friend, the pipe was old scrap from a construction site. The weight and burden hiking them in was worth the cost and the gold return.
