It’s mainly because his screams are muffled. The actual shifting of the parts of his face would just look bizarre, but the scream being muffled, implying his eye is covering his only mouth, and his convulsing reactions are what make it disturbing.

In the episode "Irrational Treasure" the conspiracy files stated an enormous, evil, time-devouring baby frozen in the Antarctic. In the episode "Time Traveler's Pig" there's a quick scene from the future of Time Baby wrecking havoc over a city. In Gravity Falls shorts "The Mailbox", it was mentioned that the end of the world will be on the year 3012. A thousand years to reconstitute... Yikes.

Time baby will be back in 1000 years. The show is set in 2012 and in one of the shorts with the mailbox, they learned that the end of the world would be in 3012, 1000 years in the future. (They also saw time baby destroying the world in the future in the first time travel episode)

So a less than fun fact: the giant head with the arm was originally voiced by Louis CK. Alex Hirsch went back and recorded the lines after everything came out. I know some people were and probably still are annoyed by that, but considering the lines he says in this episode, it was good thing to change the voice imo. That said, I believe if you have the DVDs it still has his voice in the role.

Yeah, the version I watched for the FL reaction must still have had Louis's original voice lines cause it kept sounding like the episode was out of synch during his parts. Only realized afterwards that it was because of the voice actor change. Funnily enough I don't think I even realized it was Louis CK when watching originally, but now that I heard the two side by side it sounded way more obvious. The original version definitely works a bit better. Not really sure I see the point of redubbing, unless they wanted to prevent Louis from getting royalties from it, but whatever.

just had one of the more bizarre internet coincidences I've experienced because of your comment. Was just watching an Austin McConnell video from about 7 years ago, where he was discussing some web series he had some involvement in, he brought up a show called Horace and Pete- I searched that up to potentially watch later, clicked on this video after finishing the other. On searching up Louis CK because I was out of the loop, thought he looked familiar, checked the tab for Horace and Pete, and realised he starred in it. Just an odd experience and moment of confusion I wasn't expecting.

the general reaction to this show seems to be "wow, this is messed up for a kids show!" but I think that gravity falls has merit in that it understands that not watering down the humor and stakes of your show will make it way more enjoyable even for the kids. I mean, it took a lot of fighting against the network to get things to this level, but I think it was worth it.

Honestly it still definitely felt like they got heavily restrained. The face swap and Bill’s monologue at the start are by far the most disturbing parts of the arc, but the rest of it is kinda… eh. Strong Multiverse of Madness vibes with a “oh my god what the fuck” that happens once then the rest is shockingly tame.

In his own way... Gideon does deeply care for Mabel. He makes this abundantly clear from the very beginning. And every time the Pines twins fight him, he never hurts Mabel, he tries to capture her. Dipper used to sort of take advantage of this fact in his confrontations with Gideon, but when he believes his sister is actually, truly in danger and there is no other hope of saving her, he has no choice but to try and reason with the only kid whose love for Mabel comes even close to equalling his own. Gideon is annoying, but I love how they wrote him in the final episodes.

If Time Baby comes back after 1000 years. He could theoretically come back to this point over and over, infinitely. There's no reason there can't be multiple Time Babies fighting Bill at once, because each time he kills one, it comes back, and goes back in time to that point again. Also Time Baby has all the time in the world, and can go to any distant future and get any sort of technology and amass any sort of future army you could imagine. He could come back with stuff beyond even Bill's comprehension from millions of years in the future.
