I actually think Mabel shouldn’t be that high. I mean, the things she has done in the series. Every time Mabel has had her “summer crush” is mostly ended up with dipper giving up something so that she can have her boy crush of the week and she LITERALLY gives the time rift to Bill because she wanted her summer fun time. I do think Mabel should on the good side but not that high.

Well in her defense, she didn't know what the rift was. And she didn't know it was Bill either, since he was in the body of that time traveler guy(I can't remember his name). She was scared of growing up, and even worse with the news that Dipper was going to stay in Gravity Falls and she would have to face all of that alone. I can agree that she was kind of selfish with her boy crushes, but she did learn her lesson in Sock Opera.

That being said, she's awful never helps Dipper, only ever seems to come out on top, only really managed to buy them time by spraying Bill in the eye (quick thinking, granted, but still), causes so many issued (loosing the laptop, loosing the rift, causing Dipper to loose to Robbie at during TT's Pig, ect.), and always putting dipper down (her comments on what he likes, the content of his backpack, ect.), and honestly, I think Dipper should have gone with Ford, but once again, Mabel dodged growing up by ruining the day... Note, I love the show, but Mabel was either an awful character, or just really poorly written, with very few exceptions... The only reason I think she would get any sort of real pass is because she contributes to fixing the problems she causes. And are we just not gonna talk about how she drugged Robbie and Tambry?

I'm tired of people calling Mabel an awful person just because she does less for Dipper than he does in return. Dipper is ONE CHARACTER. And yes, he's her brother, but that doesn't mean that all of her other good actions are cancelled out by it. And Dipper doesn't really help that many people outside of his family and friends. She also stole propperty of Gravity Falls pool then let Dipper take all the blame and lose his job at the pool, then she forced him to make CPR against his will only to blackmail him and humilliate him for something SHE had forced him to do, and as a reward for saving her boyfriend, what does she do? She kicks him out of their shared room so she can get a sleepover with her friends without even asking him permission, forcing him to sleep outside. Then the day after the sleepover, Mabel has the nerve to get offended when Dipper rightfully gets pissed off and tells her no more sleepovers or that he wants another room, and has the nerve to fight with him over the new room when SHE had kicked him out from THEIR room. And don't even make me start over the times she either almost got Dipper killed or abandoned him to die just to get what she wanted. I'm sorry, but Mabel can be such a selfish jerk it makes her almost unbearable.

Stan has apparently done even worse things than that, so they probably just lumped it all together and admitted it’s unusual to put him so high anyway. If the video can say his father’s reaction was understandable, then Ford must still be higher up for the same thing. They get why they’re upset, but still took it a little far. There’s also an official comic where Mabel actually realizes her selfishness some time after defeating Bill, where she literally sees hundreds of herself acting the same way. If the Star Ware Sequel Trilogy can take the expanded universe into account, the same could go here. I also just put out my own comment how I expected Stan and Ford’s father should be lower for his part in their conflict due to his influence and bad parenting, but how it also made sense that Preston was even lower since we saw more of him in action.

Heck, you could honestly just swap him directly with the Society of the Blind Eye and it'd probably fit better. Yeah they went about it a bad way but at least the core idea seemed okay enough, to keep the town from rioting over the things these admittedly pretty dim people probably aren't equipped to handle. Certainly sounds more fitting for the dark grey area than lying, abusive, backstabbing, power-hungry millionaire. Speaking of them, what was he talking about with them "refusing to acknowledge McGucket?" I really like how Stan and Ford had a different relationship compared to Dipper and Mabel since Stan is a sleazy con man who is willing to fool tourists with a fake tourist trap for a buck,but gave up his identity to save his brother and bring him back,also forgot,he handed the Mystery Shack over to Soos when he and Ford went on touring around the world. It's really sad how his father disowned him after he ruined Ford's chance of going to a perfect college and he was very hard on him at times(no wonder he did the same thing to Dipper). Ford despite refusing to talk to Stan after he ruined his chance of going to a perfect school and being tricked by Bill,is a brilliant scientific man and inventor with a love for the supernatural and science fiction. I loved how he acted as a mentor to Dipper and was the author of the journals

I think Dipper should have taken number 3, and Mable should have been where Dipper was. Mable has forced Dipper into giving up alot of stuff for crushes she knows good and well will fail, made fun of him multiple times (Not just teasing), and nearly got him killed trying to force him to confess his feelings to Wendy when he said he didn't want to yet. Oh yeah, and don't forget not letting Dipper accept Ford`s apprenticeship just because he was her crutch, and caused Weirdmageddon. Mable has a phone, that was revealed in lost legends. And I'm sure ford wouldn't hesitate to get Dipper one so he and Mabel could stay in contact. And it's not like Dipper would be dead, I'm sure they would visit often.

Complicit in forgery of money along with Dipper and Stan 3. She lacked the ability to turn Gideon down and made Dipper do it for her 4. Sulked for basically a full month in order to guilt Dipper after she missed out on Waddles 5. Made some attempts to mess with time travel by showing technology to an 18th century family, to spite Dipper 6. The whole deal with Mermando, breaking into the pool at night and costing Dipper his job there. Also making him resuscitate him 6. When she rescued “Sevral Times” she then grew too attached to them and refused to let them leave her, even attacking her friends 7. Lock Dipper and Wendy in that chamber in the bunker and refuse to let them out even when they were clearly in danger 8. Was okay with deliberately cheating against Pacifica in their minigolf game and giving the Lilliputians a vehicle for war 9. Bill even mentions that she had hadn’t done much for Dipper lately when trying to tempt him 10. Agrees to work with Dipper to solve the laptop password, then bails on him 11. Once again involved in a cheating scheme to try to get Stan elected by controlling his mind 12. Breaking into a unicorn sanctuary and eventually working with Wendy and co to beat them up for some hair (necessary but not good haha) 13. Partially at fault for the end of the world handing the rift over to Bill as a result of selfish desires 14. Refusal to leave her fantasy bubble and even put her own brother on trial where 6 of her were the jury 15. She created a fake clone “Dippy Fresh” for a perfect image of her brother, who she proudly shows to him She can flatter to deceive for sure, and episodes 9, 15, and 18 on their own are enough to have her below Dipper

That's... What both Dipper and Ford were made for. And saying 'yes' is not selfish, it's a choice. Mabel's still a kid, who doesn't understand that you can't stay with the same people forever. What Dipper is doing is not acting selfish and thinking of only his own, it's growing up; we've had plenty of opportunities to see how more mature Dipper is than Mabel. And this scene proves it even further. He's willing to let go of his sister, the person he's spent so long with, to pursue his dreams. And Mabel isn't mature enough to accept that, and accept that people change. Yes, of course, having to part ways with someone you are extremely close with hurts (ask the Stans, they'll speak from experience), but that doesn't mean you have to be selfish and *forbid* them to leave. Her feelings are valid and understandable, but her actions cannot be overlooked and justified righteously.

Despite this, he means well, and is the most selfless and kindhearted character in the whole show. #2 Dipper pines Dipper is #2 because he hasn’t done much bad, but he has snapped a few times. Maybel is not a good character. She is 10X more selfish than dipper and prevents him from living his dream and moving on in his life to something better. She’s also screwed dipped over countless times for her own benefit.

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion: Mabel is actually not a great person? A lot of her sweet demeanor is purposeful because she cares about her image as a cute, good person. This is especially obvious in the unicorn episode where she's so obsessed with being viewed as kind that she ends up doing some pretty shitty things, even if its played off for laughs. While she is objectively nice and certainly means well, she also tends to be inconsiderate, and often prioritizes her own selfish desires over the needs and feelings of others. This obliviousness to others' feelings is pointed out by Bill in Sock Opera, and inevitably leads to her releasing Bill at the end of the series because she's upset over Dipper's decision to stay in Gravity Falls. And speaking of that, Dipper's choice to stay would've made him happy, being Ford's apprentice meant so much to him, but he changes his mind when he sees how upset it makes Mabel. Time and time again he sacrifices his own wants to bend to Mabel's wishes (even with Wendy, the one person he'll act selfishly for: when he gives up working with her at the pool to save Mermando, as well as allowing Robbie to date her so Mabel could get Waddles). Obviously he still has his own vices, but in order to do the right thing, he will often overcome his pride, fear, and deep-seated insecurities, the last of which Mabel makes fun of him for *many times* ... Though sometimes blinded by his desire for knowledge, Dipper is far more attentive to how his actions affect other people, and uses his skills to help people whenever he can (ala Northwest Mansion Mystery). All of Mabel's attempts at "helping" people are misguided at best and overbearing at worst. The writers even acknowledge these flaws, but because she has such a bright, funny personality, I think its easier for the audience to ignore them. What bothers me is even when Mabel apologizes or fixes a problem she caused, she *continues* to make the same mistakes, over and over again, clearly learning nothing, and getting away with it. I'm not saying she's evil, and her purity and bravery make her a great protagonist, but I wouldn't place her higher on the list than Dipper.

I liked how in the first few episodes, Mabel and Dipper would *both* tease each other and having a good chuckle about it. Rather than Mabel repeatedly teasing Dipper because of his insecurities.

@@thenameyoushouldknowthekin8998 Yeah, agreed, it's even worse when the only time Dipper does something even remotely similar to her teasing (counting the times he wins her), not only Mabel downright bullies him back, she makes Dipper feel bad and calls him out because she accuses him of being a jerk. But right after that episode, Dipper NEVER teases Mabel ever again, but guess who continues to tease and bully Dipper over and over and over again, never apologizing of getting better...and that's just one of the hypocresies of Mabel's character.

@@thenameyoushouldknowthekin8998 And that's just one example, don't even make me start with: - How Mabel accuses Dipper of abandoning her for Ford or for wanting to hang out with Wendy...when she was the one who ditched Dipper through the whole summer just to hang out with Candy, Grenda and/or her random crush of the week. - How Mabel attacks, yells and critizes Dipper for talking to girls, when she spent the whole summer flirting with EVERY.GUY.SHE.MET. Not to mention she mocked him in earlier episodes for being uncapable of talking with girls and even saying he ridiculed himself. - How Mabel forces Dipper to confess his feelings for Wendy against his will, when she was unable to do the same with Guideon and made Dipper go break up with him for her. I could go on and on and on about how hypocrite Mabel can be, but worst of all is that the narrative of the show supports her vision of reality, which is messed up.

Dipper is a lot more selfless than Mabel though. Maybe it’s because Dipper acted so much more mature, but Dipper always helped Mabel more than Mabel helped him. Plus, Mabel’s outburst nearly ended the entire towns life when she couldn’t accept Dipper making his own decision on his future.

Mabel and Dipper should have been ranked together because they always balance each other out. Mabel and Dipper have a great sibling bond and they are twins. They are almost always together. Dipper deals with Mabel’s crushes and Mabel goes on adventures with him because he deals with her.
