Gideon is actually 8 or 9 years old. If you buy the third journal, it will say that Gideon's hair turned white and he turned evil after finding the amulet underneath a playground. This did not happen in the show.

What I love about gravity falls is that it's timeless and has no bad episodes. Even thow, it looks like 1 of those random shit each episode shows, thers verry little filler as almost everything from the show comes together in the finally.
