Frances gives Dolly a chance to be a kid /kit again ... something we all should aspire to be more often 😍

That's an interesting observation, Cat Sara, and I think it's very true.

Dolly is a funny name. It's just right for this pretty, friendly mother fox 😊🥰

God forgive us but we named her after Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton is, pretty much, a saint, so we hope our little mama fox is happy to be named after her. Dolly the fox was here this morning, curled up on a stump at the firepit waiting for me to get up.

What a little pest!😅 Bet Mom wishes he wasn't any "only fox"!

Yes, possibly. But Dolly always seemed to be amused by Frances's high spirits (and sharp teeth).

Grey foxes are my favorite, though your ringtail cats are a close second! It's a shame the latter are illegal as pets, particularly as they used to be pets, and were quite happy to hunt mice and rats in the mines and homesteads of the Old West!
@TexasBackyardWildlife5 ай бұрын
Right. They used to be called "miner's cats" because they lived in the cabins of settlers and miners (et al) and ate the rodents and bugs. We sort of made friends with a ringtail earlier this year - she used to visit us when we sat outside on the deck - and we called her Miner (a critter-minded friend suggested it). A good name.

@@TexasBackyardWildlife I hear they love bananas, if she comes back, or another one drops by!
@TexasBackyardWildlife5 ай бұрын
Thank you! We'll give that a try. And if the ringtail doesn't show up (we haven't seen one in a month) I'll make banana bread.
