Thanks for this review, i purchased this bat in LB 2 months ago from GCCC (the current model). Took my time knocking it in and had my first net session last week with it - I am very very happy with it. I looked at the Silver but found this model - for me - the sweet spot in value and quality. That said, I have no business walking out with this bat as its really for a batter far beyond my capability but it makes me feel good at the crease, and I am ok with that haha.

Thanks for responding. The Silver generally is a more refined model for a batter who takes their time in middle with balance prioritised over power. The ultimate is bang for buck and is generally not far off any of the player bats in sheer performance.

I did some colour correction on the main video, but not as much on the b roll. Very hard to match the two as neither do log footage

I really liked the ultimate, I found a select which is the same shape/feel etc at 2'8 as the 2'10 ultimate I first picked out. I looked at the thylacines, definitely a players bat this year, not the prettiest though and the ones In the cases have some pretty sketchy stamping also!

G'day I wanted to ask you said it might not be a good bat for a opener, can I ask why?

Im assuming proper cricket, not t20. It really depends on the player, but I opened for 250+ games and what you never want is a bat too heavy for you. I found 2.85-2.875 perfect for me. Pickup is important so you can play as late as possible under your lid or adjust for the short stuff. Don’t go too light either as you want a timed shot to pierce the field. That said you need to be able to shoulder arms quickly and leave alone balls you don’t need to play I would go for something mid middled to account for true bounce. Opening is seems to come with superstitions as you try to repeat things that get you in the zone.

@@CricketBatInfo Yeah I play club cricket overs up to 36 to 45. Yeah I get what you mean,Im a 14 year old currently looking to buy a bat, couple of days ago I checked this bat out it was 2.9 but it picked up like a 2.7 I loved it. In a couple of days I'm going to check out some others bats in other stores since most stores shelves are empty now. Hope you got some suggestions.

Hi all, can someone please tell me the pros/cons of a flat faced bat vs semi rounded? great looking stick!

Its meaningless if you middle the ball, just the flat face will make the edges bigger, drawback is flat faces put more strain at the splice and handle if you are not middling the ball as the impact will result in more twist, the ball should travel in the intended direction rather than glance off at an angle.

I have one of each i use. To me the rounder face feels sweeter when i middle the ball, but I have made runs with both. It all depends on a variety of things. Ball quality, shot selection, timing. One thing you need to realise is the modern 5 mm camber is not the true 7-8 mm rounder face there use to be 10+ years ago.
