I finally cut off the last of the bleach! I stopped dyeing my hair in August 2017 and here I am 18 months later with my beautiful white/silver/gray hair! Although I am still getting used to it (I’m still surprised in the mirror), now I am hearing envious remarks from friends who still color their hair. I did my transition with you, Elisa, and your videos helped me stay true to myself. Thank you. 🥰😍😘

I went dye free over 3 years ago and I have hair the same color as your original dark color. What a waste! I colored it for a decade just because I had a few gray hairs! Even now at almost 50, my silver looks like highlights at only about 20% gray. I have fine wavy hair and never could wear it this long because it would get so dry and damaged from the dye. I figured that if I kept getting my hair professionally colored until age 60, I would have spent 17k! I never have bad hair days now. I know that some women think I should color it but I don’t care. I’ve never been a conformist and my hair looks so much better with the rest of me at this age. To me, it’s depressing having my hair similar to what I had with an aging face. My hair makes me feel alive and has changed my perspective on so many other things in life. Thank you for spreading the word. If people want to color their hair, that’s their prerogative. But it’s worth giving a chance. It takes at least a year to see what it really looks like. “If mine looked like yours, I’d stop coloring it” doesn’t fly with me. You don’t even know what it’s going to look like until you try!

I always feel so uplifted and revved up about my decision to go grey after hearing of your experiences. My friends and family refuse to give up the dye so I'm the sore thumb that sticks out when we're together. It's such a confidence booster to see that I am no longer the dye's slave.;-) I absolutely LOVE my salt and pepper hair!

I don't know Elisa.🧐 I'd say for me it's a combination of color and getting older. I just don't care what others think of how I look anymore. I am pleased with my appearance. I feel confident, attractive & interesting with grey hair. Did I feel this way before going grey? No, I had to dye my hair every 3 weeks first because if I didn't cover the grey, I felt run down, unkempt & blah. Now, my attitude is if you don't like it, don't look. What's important is that I'm happy with it! 😄

I am 6 months in to growing out my grey-I have about 3 inches grow out. I was really excited about it at first but for past few months I am very unsure about it so far, I do feel like it makes me look much older. However, i am 100% committed to growing it all the way out before I arrive at a firm opinion about if it is flattering or not-and that is about 2 1/2 years away as I have long hair! I do think it looks great on most people, and I hope to be one of those by the end of this. Perhaps I don't know how to color my face with light hair, I always had darker hair from dye. I am tired of dyeing my hair and the damage it has done (so much thinning, breakage, etc.). I hardly have any hair falling out now & it is coming in much thicker & healthier which is very welcomed. So glad you had a great trip & enjoyed this video! Thank you for your posts.

Hello beautiful lady. I am glad I came across your video after watching numerous ones about the topic so thank you for sharing your experience. I'm 53 years old and since my let's say late 30s I started seeing grey hairs peaking through my dark brown hair. A few years back I stopped covering my roots at home and went to a salon to get my hair bleached yikes! I trylly regret that. So much so that after a couple of months I went back and got my hair back to dark brown. Then I really changed my mind about dealing with chemical nasty dyes all together and started using henna. At home. Soooooo messy but I was okay with it, at least it is natural stuff : ( BUT the other day I woke up and I realized I finally got corageous and decided to stop fighting myself because I knew deep inside I really wanted to embrace my now natural color. I probably have 70% greys now and I just used my last bit of henna yesterday and from now on I've made up my mind and that means I'm going all naturelle! Your video encouraded me to try and look my best still considered talking to my husband about it so he knows what to expect and he is fine with my decision. Anyway, thank you!

Looking *gorgeous* as usual! 😍 May I suggest a very, very small amount of Shea butter for the “staticky” strays?? I put a little on the palm of my hand and rub my palms together, then very lightly run my palms from the crown of my head down to the ends. And just like that the strays settle down! 😅👍🏼 Shea butter is completely natural, good for everything from burns, scars to hair and tanning (seriously) and I buy it super cheap $5-6 for a big tub. Um grande beijo de uma brasileira americana! 😉😘

Agree, agree, agree... Attitude is essential. Once a woman believes she is invisible she will become invisible. If the men around you don't see you then move on. Move to a different friend or social group, different age group, different ethnic/racial or cultural group, or another country, state or city. I'm not at all as extroverted as you are or as free in public but when I go into a conversation with someone I am myself regardless of my age. Haven't had a problem with getting a bit of attention from men of different age groups with gray hair though I haven't been dating yet. My hair started growing back a bit blonde which surprised me and I thought what had I been fearing all these years. I was born with blonde hair but by my 20s it was sort of dirty blonde so I wasn't as attached to my color as you were. You are right the men were smart of not to go to the age zone. It is like asking a man do I look heavy. Also, they are very afraid that a woman is going to ask them how old am I and then they say an older age and the woman gets mad. The men didn't care about how old you were or they would have kept walking. Post Note: Growing out naturally started with colored hair so there really isn't anything already natural about it. Adding a few treatments of highlights isn't any different that the colored hair that is slowly inching down. I used to belong to an all natural gray transition facebook page. Women wanted to give up because they couldn't stand the demarkation. I'd message them privately about my highlighting and they would thank me. Most of them went to the hairstylist to transition after our conversation. Many of them had high power jobs so they had to think about their image. It isn't how you get there just that you are able to make it there.

I am one year into not dying my hair today (25 October 2019). Aside from the god awful colour of the fading red dye, i like it. It’s a pale silver colour (bit streaky) and I’m definitely impatient for it to be entirely grey but if you want change, you’ve got to put up with the in between part. I agree with all you say and I think it’s so usual nowadays to see women who’ve had Botox or a facelift that it’s almost the norm now, so anyone who hasn’t had it done, is the one that looks odd. When did that happen?! Anyway, I’ve always said that if I am lucky enough to get to 80 and be in good health, I intend to dress like Miss Marple and be addled on G&Ts from 10 am with nothing but a slick of lipstick to face the world.

My hair is gray/silver.......I tried a product called Keracolor + Clenditioner. It is temporary and washes out after a few washes. It comes in different colors but I tried the Silver which looks dark gray to me. I used it on my dry hair and let it sit for 10 minutes then washed it out. It made my hair very soft and the silver was very pretty however I might have overdone it because it made my hair a little darker. I also think it’s taking a longer amount of time to totally wash out. Next time I’m only going to use it on a small front section of my hair. I didn’t know if you ever heard of Keracolor and might want to try something fun. I didn’t want to alter my gray only enhance it so I chose silver. There’s another color called Platinum and I’m going to try that next. It doesn’t have any yellow but it’s lighter with a pale purple hue, might not show up at all.
@msmith92045 жыл бұрын
Hi JoJo! Is the Keracolor a toner like the ones used in hair salons? Please update me on how you like the Platinum vs the Silver. Thx!
@jojorey68865 жыл бұрын
M Toyota you can get more in-depth info on it at Keracolor website or Ulta. It’s primarily for people with colored hair to keep up the vibrancy of their color. You can also watch MrKongsMom, she does a review on it, she used purple on her natural gray hair. Everyone will get different results depending on their hair color. Doesn’t hurt to try because it washes out.

Natural hair. No dye, no chemicals.

Elisa, your attitude and beauty, including that of your hair, keeps you radiant and uncommonly attractive to everyone. 🙂 That "natural" stuff is totally BS. There are women who go "natural" - which truely means no styling products, no blowdrying, no hot irons or straighteners or curlers or makeup AT ALL. Unless they are under 20 years old, they look like Hell. Fuck that. We are not cave women. And not using help while growing out dyed hair, so it looks decent, makes no sense to me. As you know, I transitioned very happily over 2 years using bleached and toned highlights at first, and then Overtone on just the treated "ends" for the remaining about 18 months. Was very successful and painless for me. No one knew I was transitioning through the whole thing. Now I am free of it all. I get compliments on my hair all the time now, from total strangers, men and women. I love my hair. And I LOVE your current haircut/style. 😘

Hello Robin. Long time no chat my dear friend. Well the way I see it the white hair that comes OUT of the scalp is natural. So transitioning is nothing but waiting for that natural that comes out from the scalp to grow out. So EVERYONE transitions natural. LOL. Big hugs beautiful friend :)

Simple, ignore. You are not responsible for their karma. You take care of YOU. Also like my mom always said, we are not gold coins that everyone is going to love us regardlessly, ya?

I think you don't look older with gray hair because it is so long. Short hair would definitely not look the same.
