Born and raised Middle Eastern Muslim girl here, my memories of learning Arabic are first picking up the words from my parents and siblings, and understanding the words depends on the context. Then my mom started teaching us, and she taught us the alphabet. There's a fun way to learn it. Then how to write and read, the first sentence we learned was Bism Allah Alrahman Alraheem, she taught all of us this sentence first then she taught us how to write our names, our father's name and last name. Reading, and writing improved with practice and time, we had a subject in school where we the students would read in front of each other to build our confidence, we also had writing subjects, we would be giving a paragraph, we practiced it, then the next day the teacher will have us write it from memory, also we had calligraphy subjects and Arabic Grammer subjects, poetry and so on, the level of difficulty grew as we grew up. As much as I feel grateful to the school and my teachers, I'm far more grateful to my parents because it started with them, even my father during our semester break, he'd task us to write huge paragraphs from the news paper, recite and memorize the Quran, they even signed all of us to the Tahfeez.

Grayson, just wanna tell you that there are alot of Arabic dialects and they vary alot from region to region, you should focus on learning MSA first (Modern Standard Arabic) it is understood throughout the whole arab world and is the same everywhere, so ask people to speak in MSA when you put them on stage, everyone in the arab world knows how to speak their respective dialect and MSA.
