I watched Black Bear in January and I was blown away. Aubrey Plaza is incredible, she has so much range and this film really allowed her to show how many layers she has as an actress. Black Bear is now one of my favorite films I have seen to date due to its depth and casting. I will DEFINITELY be watching it again, hopefully someday on the big screen.

i think Aubrey really was awkward and unusual in her early appearances - but she grew and adapted - she admits that she struggles with anxiety and has ADD - i believe a lot of her gig on live and/or unedited appearances have been a combination of "playing us" and her compensating - but your observation here is spot on

something else that you got me thinking about ...... Aubrey is a regular person - as regular as you or me or anyone else in this comment string - i have seen vids of her at the airport, going through the terminal at LAX, and with her own hair, without the expert make up, and with regular knock around clothes, you can see that she is just an ordinary person ...... she is an outstanding actor..... her characters are NOT REAL, and are not really her (although she brings some of herself to those roles)...... and the Aubrey we see is NOT REAL ..... the great point about your comment here is that we need to look beyond all the hype and mirthful silliness to be able to get a glimpse into the soul of the real Aubrey..... I can do math - and I know that after dating/living with Aubrey for 10 years, for Jeff to marry Aubrey tells me all i need to know about "the real Aubrey" - i completely trust Jeff's judgement (and obvious love for her)
