With the McNaught, pressure is what keeps the coupler locked. If you put it on a fitting without pressurizing, it will pull off easily.

Nice video I’ve seen nothing but good things about the lock n lube I like that it comes with a rebuild kit

I just ordered the Lock N Lube off eBay this evening.

The lock N lube is great just finicky, I have a zerk that the corner is knocked off and the lock-n-lube won’t seal on it where some of the others will, but the lock-n-lube is super handy and quick and can be operated with one hand

Hi. Thanks for the info on the grease couplers. I am a bit late to make a comment, because I am just about to buy one. So checking out reviews. I think the Lock n Lube is the goer for me. But one thing that really interests me about grease couplers is how the seal is made (and I don't mean how they are manufactured) on the top of the zerk surface. There has to be a force that makes the coupler's seal sit tight on top of the zerk. I don't think the side of the zerk has match to do with making the seal , as some claim. I saw a cutaway drawing once of a Lock n Lube coupler that got me thinking about how the seal is made. That big spring you can see on the device does very little to actually pull the coupler tight against the zerk. It's job is realy to push the sleeve back over the jaws and make it stay there. The jaws locking onto the zerk seems to ensure that the zerks seal surface is nice and close to the face of the sealing rubber. By the way, the sealing rubber is not an O-ring. It is bigger and longer than an O-ring and appears to have been engineered to use the pressure in the grease to apply clamping pressure to the zerk. That's where it starts to get really interesting. If the zerk is resisting taking grease and the pressure in the gun and hose and coupler all increase then more pressure is going to applied to the sealing surface. It's looks pretty cunning. The sealing media, unsure if it is rubber are some other similar material, is made in a small and large diameter. The small diameter goes on the zerk and the larger diameter is first to feel the grease coming into the coupling and acts like a piston. It looks like it is designed to push the rest of the seal forward against the zerk. A big question I can't answer yet, is how they get the seal in. Because it has to go in big end first. We need some people with lots of money to cut some of these couplers open so we can study them a bit closer. Thanks Regards Stephen.

The lock-n-lube is nice. Not sure how they all are but I would say for sure the way the seal is made makes a big difference in how well they seal up and how long they last.

My lock& lube started leaking something fierce as well, and I've barely used it for a long period of time, it cant possibly need a rebuild yet, I dont get it!!
@WilliamsonRidge2 жыл бұрын
Make sure to check you grease zerk, I rebuilt mine and it still leaked, but it was because the grease zerk was messed up on the edge, not allowing the locknlube to completely seal on it.

@@WilliamsonRidge I put a bunch of brand new zerks on, and it still leaked something fierce

Maybe you just have a defective lock-lube, maybe call them and see if they will replace it?

Does grease pressure lock the macnaught on or does it suck?
@WilliamsonRidge2 жыл бұрын
It seems the pressure does make some difference but if you pull it firmly by hand it will still pop off, on the other hand it doesn’t leak either so it makes good connections it just doesn’t lock on quite like the others where no matter what you do they don’t come off until you unlock them. I think I may revisit this video, I’ve had some skeptics saying I wasn’t using it correctly but I don’t think it will make any difference.

@@WilliamsonRidge seems like they over engineered it, bit fiddly

Ive tried many grease gun couplers also. I always go back to the Lock n Lube xl. I like the extended length and i only have 1 zerk that I struggle with the extra length. What kind of grease do you like to use?

I usually use Lucas red and tacky but recently decided to try the tractor supply traveler brand since it shares a lot or most of the same specs (I may try to do a video on that), but they had it on sale for $2 a tube if you bought 10 so $20 bucks for a case I haven’t got to try it yet though

Watch your video close on the Lock N Lube on the top zert It doesn't look like it is recessing all the way back in the tube Might just be camera angle.

If you would like to see a picture of the cut away I saw, I would be happy to share it with you some how. It was in a KZbin video so I could send the link if you are interested. Bye

You are not using the KY coupler properly. It may work the way you are using it, but the mechanism gets ‘cocked’, then push clicks onto the nipple. Nonetheless, I’ve been through two, and both failed first use. The concept was good… that’s about it.
