Yet another great video Damian ... I have now learned 12 of your lessons, (I have to keep going back and forth to keep them in my 81 year old memory banks). I guess they will eventually stick - if I can stay around long enough. You have been a 'sanity saver' for me during this ground hog day of a year. Thank you once again .... you are so generous with your knowledge.

Rockabilly has a bouncy rhythm that seems to propel itself forward. I wish I knew how that was technically defined.
@johnsee72693 жыл бұрын
That sounds like the definition of Rockabilly! I asked a skilled banjo player what he liked most about Bluegrass; he said, "It's got DRIVE!" I think that's what most popular music has: DRIVE.
@Teller34483 жыл бұрын
@@johnsee7269 Yes the 'drive' in bluegrass is the circular continuity....like a rolling wheel. The opposite would be Pete Townshend's style which involves lots of abrupt stops and starts. Its a choppy angry style...not suitable for dancing or a romantic evening.

WOW !!! I thought that song was lost in time: Choo Choo Ch'Boogie was on the flip side of "Don't Knock The Rock" by Bill Haley & The Comets, I picked up that 45rpm record in 1957 while living on Yokota AFB, Japan. I have to learn those licks right now. If I look thru your videos will I find the 1954 Guitar Solo from Bill Haley's original guitar player "Danny Cedrone"? Just so much good stuff on your videos. Have to stop watching them a complete your Ultimate Rockabilly Guitar course before I get side tracked. Outstanding Guitar Playing !!

My Gretch is very similar to yours. The only difference I can see is that yours says Nashville, whereas mine has Chet Atkins in the same place. Not sure why. Enjoyed your lesson as usual, keeping me sane as we go into a second lock-down here in the UK. Thank you from a geriatric English rock and roller.

May I request a lesson on the guitar solo from Tampa Red's Evalena-It sounds WAY ahead of its time and I wonder who was this player? In fact, this sounds like some Rosetta Stone of rock solos! what is the last chord at 3:55 ? D 9TH?
