I can remember back to the 1940's when kids loved to eat hot dogs with ketchup on them. Not me, as from an early age my mom who was polish, got me to like sauerkraut on my dogs. I liked it cold rather than hot and with a smidgen of mustard. She got me to like a lot of different foods that I still like and eat today. For instance, pickled herring, liverwurst, anchovies, pickled pigs feet, cabbage soup, Beet soup, horseradish, fried SMELTS, etc.

I agree with that approach of Woodmans. You can tell when something is fried in seed oils. It might taste great but you’re going to be hurting the next day.

The seed oils give you an upset tummy for a few hours the next day; the saturated fats in lard stop your heart 15 years later. Take your pick…
