"But he hates it" Of course he does he has less control with it on.... and YES it is your fault. All of these vids have that in common. The owners are to blame because they didn't bother to educate themselves in the slightest before buying a fracking dog. I have had ppl say that I micro manage my dog because I make her do what I say. Guess what tho she is happy and is very aware of her place in the household.

No dogs don't have accept things they hate their owners have to make it comfortable for them if possible. Forcing a muzzle on a dog without training is irresponsible. Uncomfortable dogs can't focus properly on training and might have increased aggressive responses because they are so pissed. Micromanaging takes away the little freedom dogs have left when forced to live with people.
@MsWillowbayOrelse
@MsWillowbayOrelse 5 жыл бұрын
@@AnimalEmancipation It isn't the muzzle he hated. It was the "halter" that controlled his movement. It was irresponsible of the owner to not raise that dog to respect her from a young age. What Victoria did was in the best interest for the dog and it's owners. Which was proven by the fact that the dog became a calm integrated member of the family. Also the alpha in a pack of dogs micro manage everything. Just watch the body language of dogs at the dog park. They are constantly using subtle cues to say what behavior is acceptable.

my older relatives have had Danes. I had a Dane and I'm disabled. none of them behaved like that. true gentle giants. protective but friendly first. clearly that owner either didn't socialize her dog or there was an inherent problem perhaps from inbreeding

I hate to say it, but this is a very easy problem to have when you don't know what you're doing with Danes. Most of the Danes I have come into my practice (vet hospital) behave this way - utterly out of control with no social skills. They've been allowed to figure out their size and strength, and their owners don't have a clue.

He was very poorly as a pup which meant he missed out on socialisation at a key time in his life and it also meant his owner let him get away with far more than she let her other two dogs get away with. She was also very nervous because she knew he’s a big dog who had gotten out of control, meaning her nervous energy really didn’t help matters.
@JessieR2023
@JessieR2023 5 жыл бұрын
It not the owner fault here. They have 2 Great Danes who were mellow and didn’t bark a lot till they got the 3rd one. The third one change the whole energy of the 2 other dogs which make it more difficult on them to socialize that dog when he have 2 other dogs going wild.

This is why you should socialise your puppy and take them to training classes people don’t realise how serious it can become purely from not going to puppy training or a puppy socialisation class if you don’t take your dog to these classes or at least a dog park when they are puppy’s they can become very aggressive when older

I did all the above with my pup and as he’s been coming of age he’s become aggressive towards other dogs , I’m too scared to even take him to the dog park anymore. Now he wears a muzzle and is being enrolled in even more training. So while i agree that , socializing and training your dog while they’re young is super important , there are some things you can’t avoid so you have to be prepared and willing to work through things you didn’t expect

the fact is that his excitement is out of control due to him not being socialised as a puppy, which is absolutely critical and one of the most important things in development. it prevents confrontations brought on by behaviour like this. he also obviously wasn't taught how to walk correctly on the lead.

Princess Rapunzel no, he cares so much about the other dog that he didn’t even care about the gear on his face. He was too distracted to care. Some dogs will always hate the gentle leader, you can’t wait around until they like it or they will never be trained. They need to distract or treat him with high value treats when he does behave well. The second he sees another dog mark and give a treat for the behave of just looking or hearing another dog and being calm.
@AnimalEmancipation
@AnimalEmancipation 5 жыл бұрын
@@taylorm5017 the same conditioning you recommend meeting dogs should be done with the gentle leader before. The dogs walks most of his time without seeing other dogs so it's really irresponsible to let him walk with it being uncomfortable all the time. The reason they did training without introducing the tool first is simply because they are lazy and want to produce this show fast a real professional would care to introduce new tools properly to the dog first
@hannag4768

The only reason the dog didn’t pull at last was because it was tired. Not because she had trained it. It needs mental stimulation. It was still highly locked on to the other dog before he was allowed to greet it. The dog should ALWAYS search for YOUR attention and your allowance to greet a dog when they’re like this, it Will calm it down considerably and you won’t lose control over it.

And people sometimes buy the cheaper collars that don’t have well rounded tips or rubber tips which will eventually cause discomfort if left on like it’s a normal flat collar.

Hmm... Maybe he was so stressed out because a new muzzle and head leash just got put on him? And "most dogs get used to muzzles quickly"? Maybe if it's the right size. I've been training my dog to like a muzzle for over a month, and she still isn't used to it but is getting so much better each day.

??weird comments below!!this is wonderful technique..stressed?why?talking to people is natural for you and is for dogs unless theyve been deprived it...and no longer can keep calm enough as now its so desperate!!i wonder if were all on leads and kept miles away from anyone we wanted to chat to if we would see that as acceptable.dogs have needs too.the only part where it falls down is that dogs here in the uk are now rarley off lead and socialised therefore everyone is dealing with reactivity..or at least a lot/most...problem is people are not willing to help-they want to get home for their dinner not allow your noisy dogs to follow them around!!let alone greet.

lol cesar millan is not better at all. her high pitched voice was to signal to the dog that he'd done well and that he was allowed to be happy when greeting the dog. his excitable approach and lunging before wasn't safe but once he is close to the other dog, excitable behaviour becomes more acceptable as the dogs and owners have already had chance to introduce themselves.

Her way us a joke...Cesar Milan understands Mother Nature, and uses the exact same correction (a firm but gentle hand bite to mimic what another dog does to the unstable dog to alter behaviour) that other dogs use. The proofs in the pudding with Cesar. There is not ONE SINGLE TROUBLED DOG that Cesar Milan hasn't worked his magic in, nor has he ever had to send a dog to be euthanised (unlike our friend Victoria who believes dogs that bite and whom SHE can't rehabilitate HER way, should be put to sleep!!)

I agree with you, ive watched a lot of cesar and hate the way people bash his ways, the dogs pulsl her about for a start, cesar wouldn't leave the house without that dog being beside him, ive seen the one where she told them to put a dog to sleep and it disgusted me
@user-ii3qz1xp5k
@user-ii3qz1xp5k 9 жыл бұрын
ngreen150 Actually, the reason the dog in question was put to sleep was because of the unprovoked attack. The dog was giving off calm signals one moment, and biting the next. The problem was that the dog likely had a dangerous condition sometimes seen in Cocker Spaniels, called Rage Syndrome. Cesar's methods are, to me, questionable. The dogs are usually giving off fear signals as he is training them, and the aggressive methods cause your dog to listen because they fear you. Dogs are very different from wolves, and even if they were not, Cesar's methods do not match what a wolf would do in the wild. Also, it is okay to be "pulled around" a bit until the dog learns. Victoria is gentle and patient with the dogs. Yes, her methods do take longer to work because they are gentle and not a "quick fix", like many of the punitive trainers' methods. I would rather have my dog obey me because of the bond between us, not because they are afraid of being hit/kicked/pinched/stared at, etc. Just my two cents.

I agree with the comment above. If I was in her shoes with the cocker spaniel problem I would say have the dog euthanized also. Victoria did the right thing for the family and the dog. Although her methods take longer, in the long run you have a better bond with your dog and your dog will trust you better.

Johnnycake Blaa You're not going to have any better of a bond with a dog with Rage Syndrome. This illness is dangerous and especially prevalent in Cocker Spaniels. If I was in Victoria's place, sadly I would've done the exact same thing.

This woman is truly incompetent. Putting a head collar on a dog is one of the biggest negative correction devices I can think of. A dogs main senses are it's eyes and it's nose/snout and head collars interfere those. A few well timed corrections to shape proper behaviour is far less cruel to a dog that dictating that the most enjoyable time a dog has when it goes for a walk is made much less fun because the dogs senses are significantly hindered.
