Wow. If he wanted to get his dog trained to do protection work, he should have gotten a professional to do the training. It's easy to train a dog to bite (which he's so proud of). It's not so easy to train a dog to bite only on command and more importantly to release on command.
@amalielk4 жыл бұрын
You also need complete control of the dog in all other areas as well. If the dog isn't already obedient, all you get is a dog who think it's okay to bite.

Bhilithinn your thinking of attack dogs not protection dogs. Protection dogs don’t need commands to attack because they are sound enough to identify what is a threat and what is not. Attack dogs are usually poorly socialized and neurotic dogs that are not safe out in public

I trained my dog to attack my husband if he comes at me. Of course he isn't really hurting me, but it's nice to have her on my side when we wrestle.😂 She gets pretty fierce with him and he's her favorite person in the whole world. She's 90 lbs of muscle, and she'll get him pinned to the corner of the couch, but she'll release him if I say. I have no doubt she'd move to protect me from anyone coming at me in a threatening manner and I know I can call her off whenever I want and she'll listen. I'm not a professional dog trainer, but I am an alpha. I have put the work into my relationship with her and I know she'd go after anyone looking to harm me. It's great, but you have to put the work in and the dog must respect your leadership enough to always be receptive of what you're telling them.
@trupinys19794 жыл бұрын
This whole situation gives me the creeps. This here is just one story, and Victoria is here to fix things. But there are so many idiots like this guy who train their dogs to bite and attack, often without the help of a professional, just by themselves. Or keep big, strong dogs and have zero clue about how to behave if the dog attacks (it happens all the time). And then some innocent person, a child, is badly hurt. And the dog has to be put down. There should be serious consequences for behavior such as this guy's. It's definitely a ticking time bomb, and someone has to be held responsible.
@cane47274 жыл бұрын
Yeah, my brother has a German shepherd and he won't take the dog to training or socialize him and so now he's.. Not really aggressive, but territorial and untrusting. If we take him to an unknown place and there are people around, he'll be fine as long as nobody touches him. But he's also real sweet and smart. People wanting dogs need to do research on the dogs and then actually listen to what they were told. German shepherds need consistent training and socialization. You can't miss a day.
@butasimpleidiotwizard4 жыл бұрын
My neighbors son did this and his pitbull broke out and attacked my dog through our gate, when his mum tried to stop the dog it turned around and bit a chunk out of her leg. I've seen so many well trained pitbulls but the three horribly trained ones I've seen made both me and my dog afraid of them, it's just not fair to the dogs.
@incyray97094 жыл бұрын
@HYSTERIA MCR I think they mean consequences for the precursor which leads to people improperly handling dogs they're not prepared to own. Ideally, no dogs would be put down, and instead people would be punished for their irresponsibility. So, punishment for getting a pet without doing research, or for failing to properly care for a pet (including training)- which would hopefully act as an incentive for people to do their research and practice proper animal care _before_ it can become dangerous.
@thecelticcrone79274 жыл бұрын
Incyray Sadly though....the Dog being Euthanized IS The End Result, while Many Irresponsible Owners simply get a ‘Fine’.
@incyray97094 жыл бұрын
@HYSTERIA MCR true, true. makes me want to seize total control over the pet industry so that such regulations could actually be enforced. how something of that scale would be actually accomplished and maintained, however, I've unfortunately no idea that doesn't involve some sort of dystopian mass surveillance. although, maybe a more bottom-up approach might work better? such as requiring schools to educate children about these basic responsibilities of pet ownership (maybe not how to care for specific species, since there are lots to consider, but just the universal things like do your research and be willing to accept and practice what you learn from that research), so that they grow up knowing these things from the get-go.

Don't blame the dog, it's the man. The man who claims training dogs is like training horses. He trained her poorly from the start. He trained her to bite but not to release. I think that's all he trained. He probably didn't train her to do the basics. He knows nothing and that poor dog in another reality would've been pit down because of him. The wife suffers from the husband's dog who suffers from the husband's training. The dog was taught to bite and now she grew up biting as a way to express and communicate everything she does because that's all she was apparently taught. It's not the dogs fault. It's the husband. The dog's behavior is a result of the husband's poor training methods or _lack_ of training I should say.

Not all dogs are the same. My parents had a poodle toy dog that defecated & urinated in the beds. Also a small aggressive dog when I was a baby & the poodle was when I was 4 years old. Then when I was a teenager my father had another poodle toy from a woman that couldn't keep more dogs. Probably the best dog we ever have. Fast learned & soft temperament. Temperament & intelligence is hereditary. Poodles are very smart btw. Each dog has its own personality as well. Some dog breeds are very hard to train & some are very unstable which requires a person with discipline to learn who to handle them properly. Otherwise you get a weapon at the end of the leash.

Some dogs have a very strong instinct to work, including protection work. Particularly some breeds and some strains within those breeds. If the dog is bred from protection dogs for many generations it may take very very little encouragement (or sometimes none) to get it to decide that's it's job. If anything you might need to give the dog a different job to focus on and obsess about to keep it from biting.

@Gaius__4 жыл бұрын
Exactly right. There is zero need to ever do any sort of attack or protection training with a family dog. Their natural protective instinct is more than sufficient to keep your family save. Socialise them properly and do obedience training, so they "learn manners", and that's it. I have bred Dobermanns for 30 years now, and I have never felt the need to make any of them more aggressive or more protective. As a result, they are perfect family dogs, loving, gentle with kids, goofy, and curious/friendly towars strangers. And also ... God help the fool who approaches my family with aggression or a raised hand.
