Hey mate, bought the G3 aswell, i5 8300H + 1050ti. Great value system. Bought an extra 8gb stick and kingston 500gb SSD to swap out the 1tb. Also updated the wifi card to the 9560 2x2 card. Done heaps of software mods aswell. Should chat more about what else you have done and gaming benches you have recorded after upgrades. Best of luck.

Do you have any lag issue when unplugged? I do own a dell g3 3579 1050 ti with bios latest and i have serious lag issues when on battery if you have know to fix it?

@@leonorb2523 I disconnected the bat to reduce wear. Always plugged in. Your vids were great because I had recently bought my system even though the 3590s came out months later. I installed a 1tb nvme drive 2200 mb/s, which has helped because those hynix drives are literally slower than a ssd. That may help.

I bought the XPS 15 9570 with 6 cores and 12 threads, it's a bit overkill for my uses but I considered the g3 because it also looks like you could bring it in to the office without much looks. I carry a Latitude 7400 at work these days anyway.. but my daughter is now wanting a gaming laptop.. seems like a good buy. I know I can run Mint Linux without issue, that's exciting to me..

recommend which laptop is better to buy (I saw all the reviews using this technique, namely the Lenovo y530 and dell g3 3579). equipment: i5 8300h 8gb + gtx 1050 4 gb (equipment is the same, which is the first, that in the second model). If the hardware is the same they'd perform roughly the same of course, but I can say that in my experience Lenovo laptops tend to break much more often than Dells.

The above listed modders are suitable for the price category. What do you think are the best options (design is not important)? Performance and reliability are important. Opportunities, name a few options, first the best options, and the distance worse. I will be very grateful .

For gaming should I get another SSD to put in 2.5 or get a HDD (cost isn't an issue)? along with my 256 nvme m.2?

If you're playing games with long load times that you want to speed up, go with the SSD. Otherwise, you won't notice a difference unless you're doing data-heavy stuff.

2380knight probably won’t work since the keys have blue on them. The G7 comes with a red option I am pretty sure. My G3 15 is really bad. Comes with 1 ram stick...

My version that I bought doesn't come with hdd and only comes with the 256gb nvme ssd. I'm assuming windows has to come installed on that. So in this case can I put ssd into the 2.5 inch drive bay without installing windows on it and just boot the system up?

Sure, you can get a 2.5" SATA SSD and put it into that bay no problem. Use it as a data drive or even dual boot.

What do you mean it originally had 8GB RAM?.

The laptop came from Dell with 8GB, I took that RAM out and put in my own 16GB. I also replaced the SSD.
