I live in MD & been to the falls hundreds of times both on the Virginia side & MD. I remember when it was free to go to the MD. side which is not free anymore & i go back to the 70s fishing & hiking the park & i thought i was nuts for going to the old Silver Mine & crawling back in the cave to party as a teen. This is something i would be scared to death to do so up to the Monocacy i go to Kayak Fish . You guys are brave as hell & from listening to what your run will be i can tell your not fool hardy but very well experienced . Stay safe out there & i'll just be happy if i catch some good fish ... I did go down the MD. side some weeks after Hurricane Agnes & that was one scary and mean river which easily took out the old bridges that allowed you to see the main falls , i take it they have since fixed that as i have not been down that way for some time .

The Potomac is natural flow, and there is always something to do no matter the level. These particular lines tend to be run at lower flows due to some of the holes being even more dangerous at higher water.

This is great falls- its extremely dangerous to swim there (and illegal) but I know people tube a lot on the Shenandoah/potomac out at Harper’s ferry

Personal first descent. It can be a confusing term in the kayaking world because it also stands for personal flotation device aka life jacket.
