I'm so envious of the discount stores you have in the South. I grew up in the Everglades.....we didn't have such places 20 yrs. ago. I'm in Montana. Our small town stores are very limited & NOT Southern cuisine friendly. I get the oddest stares when I load up on canned sweets/yams, any kind of greens, grits, & heaven forbid...........ham hocks!! I'm missing gator & shark, but no way I'm paying $27 per lb.! Those cans of corned beef you were debating on would be a godsend for me. (: Our cheapest cans start at over $3 {single serve} & unless its on sale, even prior to C19, I pay at least $5.39 with upwards to $6 plus. My advice is to purchase that of what you'll eat at the price of what you know to be the "norm" plus whatever increase your area is dealing with....w/in reason of course. Cheers, ~ Covah

That’s good advice! Thank you. Wow. I like gator but never had shark. It’s funny you mention grits - I can buy 6 bags of grits and no one says a thing- but let me buy 10 cans of something or 10 dog treats and people question my cart 😂

​@@poorandposh8231 I grew up commercial fishing & pulled hundreds of concrete-weighted crab traps during blue & stone season when I was real young. In the mid '80's it was extremely hot in the Gulf and we were netting 4-5 ft. Black tip sharks by the dozens. The fish house didn't want them, so we used some for crab bait & the rest I decided to bake. Any thing larger than 5' is like chewing rubber.......but the 4-5' ones taste amazing! If you ever eat a Lemon shark it does really taste lemony. I love grits and my kids do as well. I don't know if you're big on breakfast.....we are, but a lot of vloggers admit they pass. Anyhow, I came up w/an omelet that is super filling & had my kids ready for Sunday morning breakfast come Monday morn. Whip up 3 LG eggs & cook as you would for an omelet. Open a big can of Corned Beef Hash & heat either by frying if you want it crisp or just to warm temp in the microwave. Whip up some instant grits or make use of some leftover previously cooked grits by heating them in the microwave till they're warm. Add a generous amount of Corned Beef Hash to 1 half of your omelet. Top the Hash w/a couple spoonfuls of grits. Then top the grits w/some shredded cheese of your choice....we like Colby & Havarti best. Then fold over bare side of omelet as best ya can to the stuffed side. Heat till cheese is melted & omelet is heated through.....I cover mine w/Press n' Seal & heat for 90 seconds or so. Serve w/a slice of cornbread or pancake. I have NO idea how many calories are in this omelet......I just know its super yummy & fills you for hours.

​@@poorandposh8231 When my kids were young, I'd split a 3 egg amongst them. As they hit their preteens, they'd damn near finish a full one. My son is a Ketchup addict, so he added plenty to his. Later in yrs. I made a cheese sauce & covered mine. I'm so happy I found someone who actually likes grits that I can share my secret recipe with. I NEVER named it proper, I just know we were stuffed after eating it....so the closest name it got was Sunday's Southern Stuffed Omelet. I truly hope you enjoy & share w/your own family.
