A very solid effort from a new brand, but then again, when the boss already has 5 years making micros under his belt, is it a surprise? The 'Bang For Buck' is unquestionably there, and the watch has plenty of neat touches, and insane lume. I wonder if they will lose sales by not offering a 'plain dial'? Tell me what yo think! Cheers, Jody

Everytime I hear yet another batch of these micro brand watches has a Seiko NH35 the first reaction is 'Oh no not ANOTHER one' and the next reaction is 'Yeah but what else is there that's as good?'. Love it or loathe it, the NH35 makes owning budget watches a pleasure rather than a pain and must be included in 'The best movements of all time' category.
@richardbriscoe8563

For the life of me I can not understand why the Miyota movements, which are supposedly a step up from the NH35, do not have bidirectional winding, particularly when the number one complaint about them is that they are noisy when the weight freewheels.
@zerox615
@zerox615 3 жыл бұрын
@@richardbriscoe8563 I don't know what people are complaining about miyota being noisy. I don't even notice it when doing everyday activity. People who complained about the noise are probably masterbating with the watch on.
@richardbriscoe8563

@@zerox615 Numerous reviews both on KZbin and elsewhere comment about the noise associated with the freewheeling weight, “spinning” in their description, because of it only winding in one direction. Not winding bidirectionally also reduced the efficiency of the movement compared to those which wind bidirectionally. Some people making comments on these reviews say theirs isn’t that bad.

Totally agree - The NH3* series is a cracking movement - No, it's not beautiful to behold, but it's remarkably accurate - Better than the supposedly superior Seiko movements I have in their own watches! Ultimately, for me, cost and performance, rather than on-paper specs, wins!
@thehorologychannel
@thehorologychannel 3 жыл бұрын
So true! I am happy to know that there is the same movement in my 60-dollar Pagani design (not a microband, but still) as in my Seiko 5KX. What is interesting - it's even more accurate (6 sec vs 8 sec a day). After some years I can throw it away, I can service it, I can leave it for details, I can simply order another new NH movent. And this is possible because it is so reliable, affordable and widely spread

I have read some other comments and I'm not a diver guy either. I'd rather a 12h bezel like on my hamtun kraken meteorite titanium 12h. Since buying a hamilton interstellar daydate white dial 42mm, I realised I didn't like bezels at all, including 24h gmt I. have made an exception here though and will be the only diver in my collection. I think it could be that a black bezel makes the dial look smaller, such as the psychological reason for painting your house rooms white when selling it. Taking this into account, I'm hoping the abalone dial 42mm blue dial will have a lot of realestate.

@@henryettoit897 exactly that - its a business decision. No matter what one does there will always be people who do not like it. I put out there retro designs with Straton Watch Co. which are very polarizing and risky in terms of design but I do it because I love it. Why did I create Signum? Because the market loves divers especially “generic” designs, they simply sell, however as Jody pointed out its the dial materials that are a focus here, we are the first commercial brand to do a heat treated meteorite dial, and I will put more emphasis on exotic dial materials with the next release, a bronze diver with labradorite dials, forged carbon infused with lume dials, heat meteorite dials, green copper turquoise dials. Creating Signum was a business decision because dive watches are the largest and most popular watch segment, Straton is very niche and through the success of Signum I want to push Straton even further. Having two successful brands is better than just one :)

@@kevingilhooley2064 sorry to hear that. I think Kyle is a great guy, but he just needs to be the one to initiate the customer discussions. I would rather get it right than fast, but if it is going to be delayed and the date is open ended, a weekly update seems like a good idea. I also wish he would send me email, instead of SMS, it is easier to search, tag, organize, etc. I ordered it within the first 5 minutes they were available, and there are tons of people who got the watch already. I am in a FB group for microbrand collectors, and I have seen people posting pictures of the exact watch I ordered, for the last two weeks, which just makes it worse. This was also my replacement watch for the Helm Khuraburi that I have given up on. I tried ordering that the last 6 times they were available, and never managed to get one. Last time 6 seconds wasn't fast enough, and I am done with Helm now. I know Jody loves Helm, he has clearly never tried to order one.

Quick tech tip: if you use Polywatch to take scratches out of plastic watch crystals, another type is cheaper and works as well. Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish for autos works on metal, as well as on headlight lenses and plastic watch crystals. A 5 oz. container will last a lifetime. I was travelling, scratched up my Casio MRW-200H, only had Mothers, tried it, and it took out all scratches perfectly.

ARAGON makes a 42mm for nearly half of this with same specs !!

Problems with Aragon are that they make almost exclusively 45 and 50 mm, and second, I hardly see reviews for any of their watches, which is a shame

Good point...I found the 42mm line at Aragon, but without the exotic dials of Signum. I ordered the Aragon yellow at less than $150 USD, I believe...being shipped now. I also have two Signums on the way!

@@shawn1928 I'm thinking that the Asian market is what Aragon is going after for some reason they like bigger Watches , I got the 42mm white with Ceramic Bezel 👌 great watch they had them for $149

@@juniorjohnson5961 the Divemaster 42? looks nice, I might pick one up. on different note, they had a bunch of left-crown watches a few months ago, and now they're all gone. all of them! i guess they all got sold out, just find it odd

Another nh35 diver needs something to set it apart. The dials could be that especially if they are not expecting to shift millions. The Abalone dial definitely needs a blue bezel anything other and it would look haphazard.

This one will live in the box and not get much wrist time for me. Maybe flip it on ebay at a loss. Uneven lume application. Cheap thin pressed clasp shell. Sharp caseback. My 1st and last with Signum.

Just curious to opinions. It's not a Seiko but it has an smSW 200 movement. It has a ceramic bezel. A sapphire crystal and 300m water resistance. So my point is, do we pick it over an SKX or does the reliability, reputation and Seiko name still win out.??

Something that jumped out at me was specifically at 12:42 in the video footage - it looks like the hands are kind of visibly rough in terms of finish; I thought I saw a couple burrs hanging on the edges. Not something I'd expect, and I'd love that just to be KZbin doing its thing with the video once again. Love the abalone dial, but will not be picking one of these up; I just don't see a place for it in my collection. Great video as always Jody!

Nice! But what was the movement in those Watches!? 😁 I was so enamored with those dials and that price tag 🤩 I couldn’t hear the specs, just the skx comparison 👍🏼 I just thought the bezel could have been 1 ☝🏼 solid color, it distracted from the dial the real star of this show. Great job again sir, thanks for sharing 👏🏼🇺🇸

Cracking review....these look superb, I'm not into the mother of pearl etc for myself but they are stunning dials....bargain meteorite, usually out of the price range for many....I hope Kyle keeps this type of price moving forward, they'll do good volume....can't go wrong with supercharged SKX styling, we all love the SKX....full lume no date for me or standard meteorite....⌚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⌚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It's a decent watch. But that seems to be the same for most microbrand divers..... Decent but doesn't blow me off my chair like a vindaloo does. Nice value though and good to have a choice in size 👍

Eyeing for the 38.5 mm version. This or the Islander. They're like pimped out version of discontinued SKX. I know I can get the new Seiko 5KX, but I like to wear my watch when I go swimming and I can only trust watches with 20 bar / 200 m water resistant rating to go swimming with.

Hello. Congratulations on the videos, I always watch them. I would like to ask for a suggestion regarding an acquisition. I am looking for a versatile analog watch (can be used in sport, casual and social situations), which is very tough and resistant (tool and / or diver), a more premium brand. The size can be around 40 mm. Any suggestion? Thanks.

Nice video. Nice watch. Same as most of the other divers out there, so it is tried and true design. I'd wear them. That crown is a nice touch. Lume on the dial looks mottled/uneven. Still, all in all, nice watch.
