Used to float fish for ballan wrasse off the rocks just south of Port Logan in the late 70s during hot summer days when I were a lad. Kept then in a rock pool then released them. Great memories.

I used those Gulp lures in Australia when I lived out there and they were bloody dynamite. I’ve used them in freshwater back here for like, trout and perch and they do work.
@onthedropfishing7 ай бұрын
Yeah I think they might be quite useful. I had a day at Beadnell yesterday where I didn’t use them and it was non stop but when it was really quiet at Whitley on Sunday I stuck one on and took a few fish. I think might be worth keeping a packet in the box for when the fishing is hard 👍

Hi Chris. I've kayak fished many times this area usually by trolling artificial sandeels, from the pier up to clanyard bay. Never went ont Laggantlluch head in kayak, but many years ago went there with a charter boat, the skipper of which told me that an Irish cattle transport went down very close in off the rocks there. Am staying in a caravan at port Logan week beginning 31st May, and will be taking the kayak with me, if you're up around then.
@alanhornsbyalan15357 ай бұрын
Carefull with N/W winds there. Once took me over an hour to paddle 100 yards around cairnwellan head back into port Logan Bay after a sudden wind blew in from Ireland. I'd landed my pb pollack that morning, but it was washed out of the kayak along with lots of gear. As soon as I rounded the point the wind and tide took be back in really fast, but at one point I didn't think I'd make it.
@onthedropfishing7 ай бұрын
Hi mate, yes a few folk have told me about the wreck - I was over it a couple of years ago and marked it but I’ve changed fish finder since then so I’ve struggled to find it the last few times I’ve been out as I did have it marked on an old map card so didn’t take a pic or line any landmarks up ! I really love fishing around all of that area though I haven’t really explored the ground to the north of the fish pond yet. Thats next on my list! 👍

@@onthedropfishing was told by the lady at Ardwell Marine that the currents off the end of the Mull of Logan make it unsafe for a kayak and to only go south if leaving port Logan Bay. Don't know if this was good advice or not, but I've had some nice pollack shore fishing there
