How do you find the t24 copes with a bit of current / swell . Also what battery ah do you use and how much run time do you get from it. Great videos your right about the weather its been all over this year only managed to get out 3 times this year.
@onthedropfishing3 ай бұрын
It copes fine - I mean you’re not gonna break any water speed records but it does for me! Across or with the tide I get about 5kph - 5.5kph. Into a big strong tide about 3.5 - 4kph. The swell doesn’t seem to affect it much at all. Hope that helps 👍🎣

Hi mate, I’m using a raymarine dragonfly pro in this vid but any of the well known brands will do you. Garmin Striker 4 plus is a great one for not much money. You need to be over rough ground really and fishing your lures on or very close to the bottom to give yourself the best chance. Use the sounder to find structure not fish, 10 meters plus of depth on our coast in my opinion. Hope you pull a few in soon 👍🎣

Been fishing blyth pier for mackerel for the last 15 years or so and never seen so many jack mackerel as this year
@onthedropfishing4 ай бұрын
I know, it’s the sea temperature without a doubt - the mackerel this year are the same size as the ones you get year round on the south and west coasts. We usually get the bigger ones heading down from further north in the summer 🎣
@funnysods4 ай бұрын
@@onthedropfishing The bigger mackerel seem to have stayed further out up to now. We had some real monsters on the 3 mile wrecks last week, but as soon as we moved inside they vanished. Fingers crossed for at least a spell of warmer weather.

Thanks for the sub mate it’s much appreciated. The piers have always been a bit of a mess in the summer haven’t they, as far back as I can remember. Just subbed to your channel after watching your vids, I have a Cambridge Kayak but I'm looking to upgrade to a Galaxy kayak. I have narrowed it down to the Wildcat or the SturgeonFX. Ideally I would like something that I could attach a motor to in the future but I'm reading that some of the motors have been discontinued due to problems. What would you recommend ? I'm in Wallsend so would be fishing off Tynemouth and Whitley aswell.
@onthedropfishing3 ай бұрын
Hi mate, thanks for the sub it’s much appreciated. I’m using the Sturgeon FX the most at the moment. I think you can still get the motor for that one. It’s basically a de-badged Saltwater Watersnake T24 so all good. It just slits in the pedal drive - having said that I think there might be a new version of the Sturgeon out so worth checking with Galaxy on the compatibility. Hope that helps. Tight lines 👍🎣

First time watcher! Really enjoyed that! And your infectious chuckle. I was there just the other week talking to a fella going out on his kayak. I didn’t know you can get a motor for them?! Looks an expensive set up….what are you talking roughly if you don’t mind?!
@onthedropfishing4 ай бұрын
Hey Darren mate, I’m glad you enjoyed the vid. So when you’re setting yourself up it’s important to remember you need your safety kit as well - a drysuit, pfd and VHF radio as a minimum. Just my kayak and the motor new would be around £1500 but then you’d need a battery and the safety kit. The best budget friendly way to get into it is to look around (Facebook marketplace etc) for a used set up. You can get pretty much everything you need for around £800 or maybe less if you’re lucky. Obviously some set ups will be more than that depending on the brand. Hope that helps 👍🎣
@Dazzgee4 ай бұрын
@@onthedropfishing that’s great info cheers…..so definitely dry suit over wet suit….i know how cold that water gets….thanks again, might be my retirement hobby 😎👍

Yes drysuit over wetsuit - so much easier to get on and off plus you’re completely dry and comfortable from the neck down. Top tip, get one with a relief zip! (Pee zip) 👍

Hello, im really enjoying your videos, could you tell me the “approximate” cost of your kayak + motor, and any other “hidden” costs I may encounter, I’m really interested in this set up. Or could you point me in the direction of a reputable dealer you can recommend please
@onthedropfishing4 ай бұрын
Hi mate, new the kayak and the motor would cost roughly £1400 I think. Then you’ll need a battery (50ah liFePO4) at about £200 or so. After that it’s your safety gear again new a drysuit could be £300-£500 plus pdf about £60 then a vhf at around £80 upwards. Fishfinder £150-however much you want to spend on it. It’s quite an outlay if you go brand new. You can spend a lot more as well if you go for the premium brands like Hobie etc! The cheapest way to do it is to buy used as you can often get a complete set up with everything you need for about £1000 - less if you’re lucky. Facebook marketplace is a good place to look. Hope that helps/hasn’t put you off! 👍🎣

@onthedropfishing4 ай бұрын
You need something over 12 foot long for the sea really. There are often full used set ups on FB Marketplace which have all your safety gear as well. If you buy new remember you will also need a vhf - a floatation device and a drysuit etc. 👍🎣
