Great Gameboy Games - Turrican

This is a series of videos I'll be making where I show great games for the Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and Gameboy Advance. If you have any questions about the games I show, just leave a comment or PM me. This is Turrican, a really fun run n' gun game for the Gameboy and is a port of the original Commodore 64 game. It has 10 levels, tons of powerups, and allows you to roll into a ball and use bombs, and you can shoot and aimable laser out of your arm.

This was my first ever game I played. I got a Gameboy and Turrican for 7th birthday and it was the best buddy for travels and flights.

My brother bought this game on an impulse. I only ever bought games that got big features in magazines so I was skeptical. I could tell he was disappointed with it and I felt bad for him. I didn’t want him to feel he’d wasted his money, so I played it and played it until I got the hang of it and beat it. I have fond memories of it now. Even if it’s not the best version of the game, it’s still quite fun.

lisvender Mega Turrican was the game that got me interested in the Turrican series; highly recommended if you haven’t played it before :)

The Game Boy version is often cited by many to be one of their favorite Game Boy games. We did sorta get Turrican 2 on the Game Boy as well in a way, but when Accolade acquired the Universal Soldier license, they modified (or butchered) the hell out of T2GB, rebranding it as a Universal Soldier game. All they really did though is change some sprites and add a few new levels to "in theory" connect it to the Universal Soldier movie.

Looks like a good game but i don't like how it makes you run in front of the center of the screen when moving forward....bound to get hit by enemies!

"... and is a port of the original Amiga game." The Amiga version is a port of the original Commodore 64 version. That said, the Gameboy version looks surprisingly good, need to give it a proper playthrough soon :)
