Great grey owls are such a major comfort animal for me,, and the juvenile sounds like a squeaky toy being squished ToT

Aww. How about a Great Gray Owl griffin? Her name is Agate (or Aggie) and she has a snow leopard body. She's everyone's mom and a queen 😅 Long story. She is a good ruler and kind to everyone (just don't threaten her children!).

You got the scientific name of the great grey owl completely wrong, its correct scientific name is actually Ailurornis nebulosus.
@Snowmunkee16 күн бұрын
It has been in thr Strix genus since the 18th century
@indyreno293316 күн бұрын
@Snowmunkee, in case you should know, the Strix genus is polyphyletic and its only three extant species are now the Tawny Owl (Strix aluco), the Maghreb Owl (Strix mauritanica), and the Himalayan Owl (Strix nivicola), while the other nineteen extant species are now relocated to eight separate genera, the ural owl now belongs to the monotypic genus Oreoglaux with its scientific name now being Oreoglaux uralensis, the omani and hume's owls both now belong to the genus Ammoglaux with their scientific names now being Ammoglaux butleri and Ammoglaux hadoromi respectively, the woodford's owl now belongs to the monotypic genus Dryaluco with its scientific name now being Dryaluco woodfordi, the mottled, brown, and spotted wood owls all now belong to the genus Bulaca with their scientific names now being Bulaca ocellata, Bulaca leptogrammica, and Bulaca seloputo respectively, the spotted, barred, cinereous, and fulvous owls all now belong to the genus Syrnium with their scientific names now being Syrnium occidentalis, Syrnium varium, Syrnium sartolii, and Syrnium fulvescens respectively, the mottled, rufous-banded, brazilian, chacoan, and rufous-legged owls all now belong to the genus Neoglaux with their scientific names now being Neoglaux virgatus, Neoglaux albitarsis, Neoglaux hylophilus, Neoglaux chacoensis, and Neoglaux rufipes respectively, the black-and-white and black-banded owls both now belong to the genus Ciccaba with their scientific names now being Ciccaba nigrolineata and Ciccaba hubula respectively, and the great grey owl now belongs to the monotypic genus Ailurornis with its scientific name now being Ailurornis nebulosus.

Did they update the taxonomic orders recently? I haven’t heard of this Also now I’m curious what the updated barred owl name is, last I heard it’s strix varia Edit: nvm just read the full text
@indyreno293318 сағат бұрын
@entguarde, actually, the Strix genus is an exclusively old world genus now containing only three extant species.
