I can't think of another actor who had the skills that Cagney was able to do. Singing dancing, being the toughest guy in a pin striped suit. He was a one of a kind.

Excellent actor, better person. Smart as a whip and looked after the girls on the lot. He invested money for them, real estate mostly. I met some of the ladies when they were very much older. He was hero to them. Him and Joel McCrae, they were the clever ones. They cared for the people they worked with.

Always admired Mr. Cagney. I saw this when I was a young man, many years ago. "Alright, Alright Alright" lol very funny:) The part where his partner was telling a story to the girls about being surrounded and killed by wild animals .............that was taken and used in the 1955 movie "Battle Cry" when "Spanish Joe" was drunk and blowing smoke up the rear end of two old Australian salts, just as funny in 1936 as it was in 1955. Some gas stations in Detroit could use a good calibration. Not all pumps have the state certification. I know this personally, being a Cab driver. The meter will jump .5 cents before you even start pumping gas.

Today the false bottom is a standard feature in many food cartons, especially ice cream. Ice cream is now infused with micro air bubbles, so really half of the volume is air. Try letting it melt one day and notice the tasteless scum that remains. It didn't used to be this way. It used to melt down into cream. Not scum. Of course, you don't even get 4.25lbs in a 5lb sugar, anymore. Ours is 3.5lbs now.

Watch James Cagney put gas in his car and buy berries --in an official capacity of course. And watch him criticize his girlfriend's hat not once but twice. And watch him get robbed of "papers" relating to illegal activity that seem to all fit in a common long white envelope - perhaps on a single piece of paper. An odd film, to say the least.
