Wow, what an amazing event to witness! However maneuverable the ray was, once it lost a pectoral fin, it was pretty much done for. Brutal yet beautiful.

I grew up there; I remember being told by Authority Figures, repeatedly, in no uncertain terms, that there were absolutely no sharks in the area. We knew they were lying, even as kids. This video is extra beautiful to me, because it means that it's this much harder to lie to kids today. Thank you very, very much for posting it!

Once cities and towns started building piers that lie didn't fly. Lots of young people like fishing the piers, I know I did. And any pier fisherman anywhere in Florida will likely tell you they see a large shark come within 10 feet of someone in the water about once every week or two, depending on how much time they spend on the pier.
