"Great Lakes - Boreal wolf" feeding

White-tailed deer scraps (mostly legs) from the November deer hunt were placed under logs in early winter (December 2017), froze in good, and were located by a single wolf nearly 5 months later. Snow depth at the site today (April 20, 2018) when Sault College students retrieved the camera trap and others was just over 100 cm in the predominantly eastern white cedar swamp (w/ balsam fir, black spruce, white birch, yellow birch, and red maple). Location: just north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. Why Great Lakes - Boreal wolf? Based on current genetic research, our local wolf is a hybrid of the gray wolf and the eastern (Algonquin) wolf... Canis lupus x Canis lycaon.
