I've lived on Vancouver Island since 1973, when I was 10 years old I lived in Burlington Ontario when the first Chinook salmon returned to Bronte Creek and the Credit River. I still have pictures of some of the salmon I caught back then. It blows me away when I watch these back east vids. Our Steelhead are getting hit pretty hard by the burgeoning Harbour Seal and California Sea Lion populations. That's a problem you don't have to deal with. :)

when your fly casting very fair should you still not cast right at them and do you think trout beads would work too?
@MrSurfangler2 жыл бұрын
Hey David , trout beads work wonder specially in deep pools at dusk and dawn. Use 8mm or 6mm beads in natural colours like peach and pink/white(dead egg colour). Research shows that these salmon continue to eat eggs during their journey upstream. So they take beads and egg fly patterns when the feel relaxed and comfortable ie deep waters with not many idiots troubling them. They bite other flys due to aggression but they actually eat egg flys. If you can see the fish and the fish can see you don’t bother with egg patterns

Word of caution, careful reaching down and grabbing their tails to land the fish.Too many assholes will break off their treble hooks from snagging and it makes for a bad rest of your day.

people snag so much at the credit... been only a few times because it pisses me off so much
@ibrahimpatel51647 жыл бұрын
so many people at the credit during salmon season don't even have fishing licenses

I think it's snagging. I would leave salmons to spawn peacefully.
