This is so fun watching this video ! I grew up at Lock 1 and Lock 2 way back in the late 60's and early 70's. Loved going there as a kid and begging for coins from the different ships that passed through! Had a bagful ! My brother and I thought it was so cool, still is!!

That is so great! We love getting comments like this where people have memories that they share with us! We are hoping to be able to do the Erie Canal one more time.

My brother and I used to ask for coins at lock one as well. Great fun. One time we called for coins and were thrown some Canadian quarters. It was then we realized the ship was not from France but rather Quebec. We felt embarrassed. LOL.

Rather exciting, much more exciting than my bicycle ride along the Welland Canal.

Seems like a lot of extra work just to lock through. Enjoy

Yes! It took us an entire day! There was a considerable amount of time waiting for freighters 😔

Tight getting out of the dock Capt., well done. What an awesome place to see from the water. No wonder you were excited. Rev, you being Lock Lady and all, we had no doubt you could handle it. 🙂 Best wishes you two

Thanks for sharing, I have followed you and Rev since your first loop and I think this is the first Welland canal transit i recall. Great episode, very informative and fun to watch.

Awesome video Rev and Sam. Wow that's a lot of work going through all those canals. I don't really remember that happened the last 2 loops. Stay safe! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Thank you Joann on the first loop we did not go to the Welland Canal because we went through the Trent. On the second loop our boat went to the Welland Canal but we could not go through due to the restrictions. So on the third time around we were able to do it on our own! ❤️😎❤️😎

@@WhatYachtToDo wow it's awesome you got to go through it this time. Still a lot of work for you both. Stay safe it's very dangerous cold tonight in Florida if you are here in the state. Keep warm.

You have probably already been told this, but lock one is at Port Weller, not Port Dalhousie. Port Weller is where the first canal began.

Enjoyed your video. I hope you do a video on the St Clair river between Michigan and Ontario to Lake Huron

Yes we did quite a few of them on our second Loop. Go to our KZbin playlist and look for the second Loop. In fact we had to shut down an engine on lake Huron and duck into Harbor Beach for repairs. Recently I was on a training trip taking some people from lake Sinclair up to Mackinac Island I did a couple short videos on that and post it on Facebook. 😎

Never sailed the canal, but have spent hours photographing boats going through. And cursing waiting at a lift bridge.

Do they charge you to use the locks?
@WhatYachtToDo9 ай бұрын
Yes! I believe it was $200 Canadian for the entire transit through eight locks. 😎
