Thank you Bill for sharing your wealth of information! It’s going to be a few years before we can do the Great Loop, but I’m trying to learn all about it now. We have a 36’ Carver on Lake Erie & wanted to do some excursions this year up to MI & CA, since our last time doing so was 2019, but now with gas prices who knows.

Great episode. Thanks for the information. Regarding passing and being "waked." I have seen a number of posts and KZbin videos with Loopers complaining about being waked. Sometimes, watching the videos, the other boat was just going about their business. Not doing anything dangerous or disrespectful. Doing a slow pass is very nice and always appreciated, however, boats make wakes. I always try to remember that and let it go. It's supposed to be pleasure boating, after all.

SO my wife and I are planning to take 6 months off. Buy a boat and do the great loop. We are actively looking for a good boat now so we can play with it during the summer on Lake Michigan and then take our trip starting this fall. We have been watching soo many videos and learning from people, but the ONE thing I noticed.....aint no black people! lol We are an interracial couple and I am noticing there are no brothas on these boats. Do you have many black members? Also as you are rolling through all these areas I am thinking how great it would be to fish and fillet them and then deep freeze different fish for when I get back home. Can you just fish ANYWHERE on your trip or is there a specific license? Thank you.

Unfortunately, boating in general is not a very diverse population, but many are working to change that! I can assure you that all are welcome in AGLCA! As far as fishing, you do need a license for anywhere you plan to fish. A few state offer reciprocity with neighboring states, but not many. Many Loopers will get fishing licenses for the places where they will spend the most time, like Florida and Canada. Most don't get a license and fish in states they pass through rather quickly, like Georgia. Hope that helps. Please let me know if you need any additional assistance.

@@GreatLoop Thank you for the response. I cant wait to do the great loop. We are pretty much engulfed in thought about it. I guess My other question is why no one comes through the great lakes down Earie and Ontario? Seems most things I have read or watched have people going through Canada. Do we need a passport for the great loop? Theres Canada, Bahamahs (sp).

@@mjohnson1042 Taking the Erie Canal to Lake Erie requires you to clear 15' fixed bridges, which many Looper boats are too tall to do. If you want to go between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie, that requires passage through the Welland Canal which is very commercial. Some Loopers do this route, but most prefer taking the Trent Severn Canal in Canada. Take a look at our Intro to the Great Loop webinar for more info. kzbin.info/www/bejne/np3ZY4WEep6Ygs0
