Thanks, We've learned to work together over the years. Jim actually taught me to drive small boats. Jim is great bring his boating and helicopter background and his calm demeanor creating a great environment to living aboard a boat. Every day it’s a new adventure. Thanks for watching.

I’ve had trouble replying to your replies 🤪not sure what I’m doing wrong. Back to the boat name; looked it up and I am impressed , perfect name now I understand, we’ll educated may recognize immediately, knew it meant something, thanks for the explanation , just wonder where that constellation can be seen and recognized, have you seen it? ❤️⚓️

Not sure why. Doesn’t show up on my dashboard though I came through on my KZbin channel page.

We have not seen the constellation. It is a Southern Hemisphere constellation. For the best view of Cetus in the Northern Hemisphere, look towards the southern sky during the winter month this is from the Internet. Maybe we can see at anchorage the next two or three nights.

Everyday is adventure. Our stern anchor dragged a few nights ago with the current shift. We had to tend the line up to the bow (11pm)since the tide swung us 180° and when pulling in the stern anchor it grabbed into the mud. It worked out waking before the tidal change and pulling the bow anchor while taking in the stern anchor line and spraying the mud off the chain at the same time. Jim controlled everything from inside the pilot house. I got my workout in.

Wes on MV Toscana told me when he needs a stern anchor and has a buddy boat he likes to raft up alongside, with bow to stern, so that one boat drops her anchor upstream and the other downstream, meeting in the middle to raft up. That way both boats just have the one anchor out and can use the windlass to retrieve it.

Think that would work great in a cove or a quick anchor to stop for lunch/repairs. We have seen boats rafted (up to four boats) together in calm weather in the Georgian Bay. Our boat is very heavy don’t think I would trust the holding power of our anchor with two 50ft boats rafted together overnight. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I am not a river guy, so I am not sure proper ways there, but have a quick question. How come you guys don't use at least at little bit of chain for the stern anchor? 5 or 6 feet would help set and prevent chaffing some. I assume its more of a weight thing there? I have done mostly inland lakes with cruiers 30-40' and ocean crossings on trawlers 72-76'. First time viewer of your channel. Keep up the good work. 🤠👍

Thanks for watching It was the first time using the stern anchor on the river system since we bought the boat. We will be adding 8-10’ of chain maybe stainless since mud doesn’t stick to it. Once we get to Texas we have a work list and a shopping list that we will be able get things done. It will be nice to have a vehicle for the next four months. We brought our truck back to Texas in November of 2023.

With three boats, why not raft bow and stern using the bow anchors

Our boats are to big to raft together. Two are 50ft overall and the Olympia is 62ft. We must also leave room for the tugs and barges to transit the river. If we were in a cove or an area with no wind or current we could if it was for a short time like a lunch or one of the boats with a mechanical issue then yes. Thanks for watching.
