Hi Gary and glad to hear you enjoy our videos! The camera we used on the back of our boat is a RioLink Networked POE camera (not wireless). The camera is added to our wireless boat network and the image can be accessed on an iPad with the RioLink app. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!😎

Hello and thanks for your interest in our great loop journey! The purpose of our videos is to share our boating experience along the Great Loop. There are many factors that determine the cost for each looper. Some choose to stay in marinas and others prefer to anchor. Some eat out a lot and others don't. The cost can vary greatly from one looper to another. We purposefully are not focusing on details about cost as it detracts from the overall experience. For timing, we spent 380 days out on our loop. It can be done faster or spread over several years, but for us, we prefer to get it all done in one trip. We highly recommend acquiring your looping boat at least a season before you depart so you can become familiar with it and comfortable operating it. There is information on the AGLCA website about cost and much more information about all aspects of the loop: greatloop.org Thanks for following our journey!😎

Thanks for the hint on the portlight rainshields. You have a beautiful boat. My only quibble is that I much prefer a satin finish for interior brightwork, but that's why they make both chocolate and vanilla ice cream.

Looks great! Have added to our list of potential trawlers. How have you found the stability of the semi-displacement hull - both underway and at anchor?
@staycool1232 жыл бұрын
Good question DB! It’s very stable heading into the wind and ok with following seas, but not the best with waves on the beam. At anchor, she’s stable but like most boats, if the wind and waves get up at night you’ll hear the waves on the hull. 😎

How much did it cost you to use the locks on the US side because I know you can buy a lock and mooring passes for the Rideau Canel and the Trent Severn Waterway
@staycool123 Жыл бұрын
Good question! When we travelled through the USA, there was no charge for pleasure boats to use the locks. Parks Canada passes apply to several canals, not only the Rideau Canal and Trent-Severn Waterway, but also docks in the Thousand Islands, Georgian Bay (Beausoleil Island docks), Chambly Canal, St. Ours Lock, St. Anne-de-Bellevue and Carillon Locks. Thanks for watching!😎

Excellent video and commentary. Very informative. How long between pump outs of black water and refilling of water tanks? Presumably water tanks are used simultaneously so that the boat does not become unbalanced.
@staycool1232 жыл бұрын
Good questions! It can vary depending on the number of people on board but it’s a good idea to get pump-outs weekly. Our water tanks last us about 2 weeks. 😎
@staycool1232 жыл бұрын
Forgot to add that the water tanks are self-levelling, meaning that they are connected and empty relatively equally. Same for the fuel tanks.

Had a seatrial today on a 350/390 with a single yanmar like yours. 2200rpm at 8knts seemed in its happy zone. It did smoke quite a bit though. Does yours smoke even when warmed up?
@staycool1232 жыл бұрын
Hi Chad, no ours doesn’t smoke when warmed up. Ours is a Yanmar 370 turbo engine and likes to run at 1850 rpm around 7.5 to 8 knots. Many variables affect speed: wind, current, prop, etc. Good luck with your purchase!
@stevemartin8247 Жыл бұрын
Always love your videos. We recently were able to take a tour of a 390 and loved it. We did have a question about the space in the stateroom. Being on the boat full time, how is that working for you? Our biggest concern was that it looked like, when you lay in the bed that your head is up under the drop in the deck. How does that work for you. Any issues sleeping on your side or rolling over at night? (I’m 6-0). Other than that concern the 390 looks awesome.
@staycool123 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind comment Steve! The Mainship 390 is a great looping boat and we can attest to it working well for full time live-aboards. No boat is 'perfect' and the bulkhead over the head of the bed may be a limitation for some people depending on their sleeping habits. We have become accustomed to it and Malcolm is 6'2" and we have made it work. Good luck in your boat search!😎

Is there a Make or Brand to the salon table? I am looking at a Mainship and it does not have a table and if we get this boat; we will need to get a table like that. Thanks!
@staycool123 Жыл бұрын
We believe our salon table was made custom by Mainship for each 390 model they made. There is no information on the table itself. It’s pretty heavy and goes up and down on a gas shock. Hope that helps!😎

How do you like the Bluetti power station? Is it the 2000w model? Do you plug the boat's shore power directly into it so you can run house outlets when away from shore power?

We love your boat you sure have her ready for the loop. We sold a 2000 390 this spring in Vero Beach this summer, it as well had many upgrades. I do have an interest in where you purchased your rain shades on the port lights. You may want to watch some of our adventures on You Tube under “James Rossman” or follow us on Facebook under my name. It’s always fun to see what other boaters do with there 390. After selling our vessel, the 2000 390 then arriving back home to MN and contacted another party that had a 1997 asking the question if they were ready to sell. Surprising to us they were ready to do the motor home route so believe it or not we purchase another one. We have noticed first thing that those upgrades we had done were not there but we plan to leave from Red Wing MN around 10-2-22 and head south. We hope to see you along the way. We are on NEBO under Ariverderci. We completed the Loop in 2014 on previous vessel which was a 1981 34 Mainship, so we are now on our third Mainship so you made a good choice. Let us know about the rain diverters Thank you Jim and Pat Rossman go,d loopers prior Lisc Captains. We had our 390 for three years running from Deltaville VA to Demopolis Alabama so other boaters know us Ariverderci and No Agenda. We love your vessels name!
