I could recommend to follow the channel of Kirby Araullo, a Filipino historian. His contents are about Filipino history including pre-colonial history of the Philippines which he has a lot. His narration and animations are so viewer friendly that is why I like his youtube channel so much 😊 Actually "Ikaw" means You, I am also confused why Sheena pointing herself while saying that haha.. "Mo" is also another reference to You.

Agree! Kirby has also reacted to MVs of SB19 and Alamat before, explaining the lore, historical and cultural significance 😉

Those figurine things in the paintings are what we call "anitos". Anitos are usually carved figures that represent spirits, supernatural beings, and deities in Filipino religion in pre-colonial times.

For precolonial Philippines, the writings of William Henry Scott are the best. He also lived in the Cordillera region, but not in Baguio, I think, but in Sagada, which is further inland. Old school Filipino nationalist writings are a bit too Tagalog-centered. There is a reason why the Visayans are asserting themselves and the Ilocanos already have. Kirby Arraulo who some others mentioned is Pampangan, but his perspective is reasonably modern. Filipino ethnic groups can have as different perspectives as Filipino fandoms. 😉 BTW Taneo of Alamat is from the Cordillera region, don't know if directly from Baguio. If you are looking for Filipino stuff, this year's coming Frankfurt book fair will have the Philippines as its featured partner country. Lots of books are now being translated into German.

Bini should make their own beanie merch and sell it as Bini Beanie. Anyway, I'll see if I can dig up in-depth videos on Philippine History, Martial Arts, Superstitions, and lots of fun things that you might not be aware of about that country. It will probably show up in your discord suggestions. I miss Philippine mango. All I can buy here in the US is dried Walmart Philippine mango.

I would suggest checking "The Entire History of the Philippines - in 1 hour" by Knowledgia. It's a running timeline of the Philippines from way, way back to present.
