First thing is simply I'm very optimistic about the Red Sox with or without Bregman!!( that's not saying it wouldn't be great if we got him) I am very honored to start my 67th season as a fan of the Red Sox and doubly proud to be a member of Red Seat Radio for what will be 2 years in May or June. I decided a while ago to be patient and relaxed when there's things I have no say or control of. I do have my hopes for the team We have some great players and I believe they will have a great year!!

A lot of us out here don't want Bregman. I even did surveys on X and Bluesky a month ago asking Red Sox fans who, among 3 players, they'd most like to see the sox add to their infield for 2025. Out of 59 votes, 53% were for Campbell, 39% were Bregman, 8% Arenado. But if we have to accept Bregman onto our already very crowded position player roster, 3 years would be the most I could tolerate. Everyone just please keep in mind, he is not the solution against left-handed pitching that everyone thinks he will be, at least not if he continues the trend he started 3 years ago. The last 3 seasons against LHP he's posted very average wRC+ of 108, 95, 100. Against RHP he's had 152, 139, 125. So in terms of results he's been like a good left-handed bat. Current Red Sox who are hitting LHP better than Bregman: Rob Refsnyder, Romy Gonzalez, Masataka Yoshida, Triston Casas, Connor Wong. Looking at Kristian Campbell's projections, he would place ahead of Bregman, too. So Bregman can step right in and become the Red Sox 6th or 7th best bat against lefties. Not really the solution everyone thinks he will be.

Makes a lot more sense for Kristian Campbell, Vaughn Grissom, and Romy Gonzalez to have the full opportunity to collectively fill the void of the loss of Tyler O'Neill's right hand power bat ... If the Red Sox want to sign another free agent, a back of the bullpen capable reliever would be the better investment in improving the roster ...

They do a lot of things that don’t make sense. Not keeping O’Neil who was exactly what they need right now. They got rid of people like Adrian Beltre, Nate Eiovoldi, who was probably their best or close to it. He is lights out in the postseason. Seems like they get rid of guys just to get rid of them

The Santander deal is the framework for Bregman. 3 years at high money, and 2 option years. If Bregman can replicate his Fenway numbers, he may be worth more in 3 years, at least on a year by year basis.

Bregman would be a nice fit. seemingly, but the Sox' top three prospects; Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer are all thought to be coming up at some point during this season. Where do they go? The outfield seems set with Abreu and Duran, with Anthony and Yoshida as well. Campbell can play infield or outfield but there are only so many innings. Mayer could take over at short, especially if Story gets hurt yet again.

Do you think Alonso or Bregman would accept a one year with a high AAV. Say Alonso for 1/50 or Bregman same. If Bregman is added do you offer Grissom and Abreu for Harrington, Mueth and Ashcroft or Chandler and Mueth. Maybe if J Jones is on the table you throw in Blaze and Arias. Frankly, I love the Idea of Yoshi Abreu Kutter and if needed a throw in for Arenado Hensley and Ivan Herrera.

Bregman would be a great add for us, only if we sign him for no more than three years. We have Campbell and Grissom that will need playing time in this time period. He brings a solid glove and a consistent 4.0 WAR. Pencil him in for 40 doubles, 20HR's and 75 RBI's.

The Bregman pursuit is feeling a lot like the 2025 version of Jordan Montgomery. Would it be great to have Bregman on a short term deal? Absolutely. That said if we do not get him I think Story, Campbell, Grissom will bring balance to the line up. A healthy Casas and Story should go a long way to replacing the home runs that Tyler O’Neill brought, hopefully with a lot fewer strikeouts.

Astros offer is still on the table? With incentives added in, they could be the winner. I’m not positive about the RS chances because they apparently made assurances to Devers, that he would be staying at 3B for the extension he signed. They’re not going to give Bregman 2B. Unless Bregman gets a late offer from Yankees trying to upstage Boston, he’s going back to Astros on an offer still on the table. Finish his career an Astro.

Assuming Bregman does sign with the Sox, the question is where is the best posiition for him. It's hands down 3B with Devers becoming the DH. If you put Bergman on 2B, then who wll be the DH. The Sox need to move on from Yoshiba and another powerful right hand batter becomes necessary.

I'm sick and tired of the bullcrap. It's free agency. If you really want a guy and you're not trying to fool your fans then overpay a little. It's not costing you assets. I personally feel that we have a crowded house and we don't need Bregman but would I rather have him than Trevor Story? Yes. Would I rather have Bregman play 3rd than Raffy? Yes. The thing is he's 30 years old and probably wants 5 years 200 million. I think you could move Story to 3rd and if he has a good year then the numbers would be relative. Story at third moves Devers to dh and it opens up ss and 2nd for the group of young guys we have that are ready for the big leagues. We may have to wait til next year to be championship caliber but another year of seasoning and 1 more off-season to set up the roster we will be ready to compete for a championship. Why settle for mercenaries? We have a bunch of 5 tool guys coming up on the cheap that will allow us to focus on the pitching staff next off-season.
