@Leaffordes3 жыл бұрын
@@erlinghaaland975 In 1700, England was a guarantor of the treaty of Holstein-Gottorp (along with Sweden, the Netherlands, Hanover and Lüneburgian) which meant they were one of the protectors of Holstein-gottorp. When Danish forces invaded Holstein-Gottorp (to secure its back for the upcoming invasion of south Sweden) all these nations intervened, against Denmark, to keep the peace. So, in 1700, England did not fight as a belligerent of what would become the Great Northern War; they fought as a belligerent of the minor war in northern Germany-to keep the peace. In 1717, Hanover went into the war against Sweden; Hanover and Great Britain shared the same monarch, so it became natural for Great Britain to support the anti-Swedish coalition. Furthermore, Charles XII of Sweden had orginaized privateers against-what he considered-illegal trading over the Baltic sea; England, among other nations, traded with Russian-occupied Swedish territory, in the Baltics. England suffered quite a lot to this, hence another reason why they started to support the anti-Swedish coalition more. In 1719, as the Swedish defeat had became inevitable, with Charles XII killed, and Hanover negotiating peace with Sweden, Great Britain shifted its support to Sweden-to halt the aggressive expansion of Russia. Again, as in previous instances, they were not "officially" involved in the war; they were not a true belligerent, but only supported whatever side beneficial to them at the time.

You showed Phillip Orlyk's campaign in Ukraine inaccurately, as well as the Crimean raids into Ukraine and southern Russia. The war didn't actually end with the Treaty of the Pruth, and there were several campaigns and battles in Crimea, Ukraine, and the Caucasus that took place after it was signed. And you completely overlooked the brief restarting of the war in 1713. But ultimately, this is the best video on this war on youtube. No other video even remotely compares to its level of detail and accuracy. Overall, one of the best videos I have ever seen. I am extremely impressed.

One thing I would change would be to make the area Sweden invaded initially as dashed lines, especially Lithuanian territory. They were more focused on making a rush towards the capital and had very poor control of the land with guerrillas and skirmishes plaguing their supply lines. Hence why they were referred to as zuvediai cause they mainly raided instead of establishing proper control It also makes more sense when Sweden starts to snake out in expeditions later on

Ivan the Terrible when he literally called himself Caesar(Tsar) its already start of empire in reality
@НоуНейм-е9ж3 жыл бұрын
@@DVXDemetrivs No. Ivan IV turned Grand Duchy of Moscow into Russian tsardom. Peter I turned Russian tsardom into Russian empire. (different stages). Earlier Moscow was just a part of the Grand Duchy of Vladimir. So, Moscow has evolved according to the scheme: Principality -> Grand Duchy -> Kingdom -> Empire. True the imperial capital was no longer in Moscow.

@@НоуНейм-е9ж you know in the slavic language the word tsar is a translation from Caesar or "Kaiser" in my mother language german. So actually Russia had the rank of an Empire since Ivan the IV (gruesome) crowned himself tsar in 1547.

Pretty good but some important details are missing about the polish theatre in the period 1706-1709. For example in the autumn 1706 August II regained Warsaw. Lwów was not kept by the Swedes in the whole period 1704-1709. And the battle of Koniecpol in 1708 did not cause an immediate collapse of Stanislaws Leszczynski's army, it happened after Poltava.
