The Swedish theaters are not very well done; e.g, in January 1807 the French invaded and occupied all of Swedish Pomerania except Stralsund and Rugen, but then retreated early April as the Swedes counterattacked. This is not seen in the video. Neither the Russian invasion of Finland (in reality, the Swedes counterattacked and retook ground) or the Swedish-Norwegian border war of 1808-1809 is is very well covered. Furthermore, the Swedish-Norwegian war of 1814 is not covered at all.

This is Peak content! You outdone everyone else. My only concern is that you depicted the Habsburg Monarchy as if it was only "Austria", which isn't correct. Even after 1804, Hungary remained separate from Austria, thus the "Austria" by itself still couldn't be applied to the entirety of the Habsburg Monarchy.

@@fahoodie1852 Austria was a collection of different states, kingdoms, duchies, etcetera under personal union, then all of those became provinces in 1804. Therefore, the way Austria is shown is accurate after 1804.

If I may add a little detail not on the video: France invaded the vale of Aran (in the central Pyrenees) in the first half of 1793, the vale was officially annexed on august 14h 1793, but given back to Spain two years later on july 22nd 1795. This vale is an awkward case in this region since it is on the north side of the mountains, where everywhere else around the french spanish border follows the drainage divide created by the mountains. Great vid and outsranding map nonetheless.
@fahoodie18524 ай бұрын
@@Deohelm never knew of that annexation, thanks for letting me know
@Deohelm4 ай бұрын
@@fahoodie1852 From what I can gather the vale was occupied by french troops on march 31st 1793. Also now that I think of it there is another small mistake in the borders. All the enclaves in northwestern France were annexed during 1793, the principality of Salm being annexed on march 2nd 1793 for example. The only enclave remaining after 1793 was Mulhouse in southern Alsace, which was annexed by France on March 15th 1798.

Man, you literally showed everything: The alliances, flags and names of belligerents (even of countries outside the Napoleonic Wars), major cities, rivers, important naval battles, the sieges, ALL dates, important events, and even casualties! I also like the zooming animation at 15:29. Music choice is great too, you'll get the feeling at 14:35 that everyone betrays and wants revenge on Napoleon, who is on a last desperate stand. Not necessarily a compliment, but an idea. “Napoleonic Revival” Similar to the plot of the movie “Look who’s Back!” Where Hitler comes back to life and takes trips around Northern Germany, (Focused on Prussia). Instead Napoleon, suddenly comes back to life somewhere in Paris, because, you know, his casket is in Paris. in perfect 30 year old condition. He gains attraction around Paris in days, he gathers a small army. Marches around north western France, him and his army spread while doing so. Then, when they opened his casket for the first time for suspicious reasons, they discover his remains are no where to he found. French Citizens here about this, and many places around France choose sides. France breaks into Civil War, but since this wouldn’t be considered an act of external war and instead an internal war, Article 5 is not activated. So Nations can choose to join. Then you can probably imagine what happens next, 3 words, “Conquest across Europe”. Napoleon is crowned again, unless no. But Napoleons reign is definitely reborn. This isn’t a movie but instead a mapping idea similar to this masterpiece of a video! Please reply.

Do you have any sources that say the French actually controlled Samogitia (Western Lithuania)? I'm not questioning your work, but I'm curious myself because few sources say that Prussia controlled this region.

@@dominikwachowski4015 I believe it was mixed control, kind of like Courland with both French and Prussian soldiers on the ground

How does this compare to Batman Mapping's video? Great work!
@fahoodie1852 Жыл бұрын
Batman mapping’s Napoleonic wars was a very good video, and shows many often inaccurately depicted frontlines in a much better way (for example the invasion of Russia - he was the first to show it properly). I can say he definitely did a better job with the German states than I did, but his critical flaw was the 1814 campaign which he overlooked, depicting the allies steamrolling into France. The reality is they struggled alot and there were several back and forths as shown in my video
