Great Ocean Road in Winter & SECRET Apostles PENGUIN Colony!

Thanks Lydia & Wehan for another stunning video. I'm 61 & have lived in Victoria all my life. I've been & stayed along The Great Ocean road many times & yet I never knew there are penguins there. I love how you both get so excited whenever you see wildlife in the wild😊😊 When you come back to Victoria after being in Tasmania, you'll have to visit the penguin parade on Philip Island. This wonderful experience brings you right up close to them in their natural habitat. They all come up the beach to their burrows that have baby penguins in them. After spending a long day out in the ocean getting food for their babies. Its a breathtaking experience that I'm sure you'll both love. Safe travels xx😊😊 much love😊😊 and keep warm😊😊❤❤

So glad you enjoyed the video! 💙 It's so weird that they don't seem to mention the penguin colony much on tourism websites or on the informational signs along the Great Ocean Road. They were definitely a highlight of the trip for us. 🐧 Thank you so much for the recommendation, we heard of the penguin parade awhile back actually and it looks incredible there.

Port MacDonald near Mt Gambier has penguins ❤ school holidays are horrible to go to those places

We did look into them when we were visiting Mount Gambier but saw that the colony wasn’t there anymore due to foxes 💔 We thought we’d be ok as Vic school holidays ended a week earlier (the 9th) but still lots of tourists and tour buses 😅

Oh noooo darn foxes. You guys saw an amazing number of them 😊. School Holiday are kind of staggered across the states. You should generally be ok now. 🤞

Yes, 1990 was before anyone carried cell phones. Maybe you could carry one in a shoulder bag kind of pack. It would have been big and bulky and not for the regular person. Awesome penguins!!!

When my wife and I visited a very very busy 12 Apostles location, after seeing the stacks, trying to get that shot, I thank my very big extension pole for my great footage….it was crazy, folks behaving very selfishly…anyway, back at the centre, while waiting for my wife who need the toilet, I went for a short stroll behind the centre along a little path….I was shocked to see a few young ladies, hiding behind some bushes……they decided that this would be their bathroom, I could not believe my eyes, a good indoors toilet only 20m away…but no, they had to climb over a fence, go crashing over the plants……and…..ignoring a big yellow sign saying, warning venomous snakes…….I know exactly what type, these girls showed not a care…….crazy folks risking it and ignoring safety and respect….I did manage to convey the dangers to them, I heard them speaking French, so managed a few choice words……crazy silly people……why you do ask , do they do this…..

Oh no!!!! 🙈 That's terrible, some people have no shame. As if they didn't just wait for the toilet 😅 So far the great ocean road has been the most touristy/busy spot on this lap, it was chaos.

@@lydiaandwehan must admit, it was a bit of a shock to us….the masses of very annoying tourists with zero respect for anything, bit sad to be honest….ok we did the Ocean Road and saw the sights….but on our last trip, we had a brilliant hike up in the Dandenongs….saw and heard a Lyre Bird…wonderful forest walks…so pretty up there and not far from the city….will want to do that again
